Hi,
We are traving to WDW in Sept on the dining plan. We have a few questions:
- If we have unused counter/quick service meal can you trade them in on snacks to go?
- Grand Floridian cafe: Any thoughts on this place? We really like desserts. After looking at the online menu it looks like the desserts are "mini's", can you get the dessert sampler on the dining plan?
- Planet Hollywood: If you go here on the dining plan can you order any entree on the menu?
- There is one day that we have a ressie for the Liberty tree tavern at MK but there is a chance we may not go to the park on that day. If we end up not going to the park do you think we will have a hard time finding a place for dinner with having no ressies? I was thinking we could find something last minute at one of the resorts or downtown disney.... Am I wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe. You'll have to ask. You will probably have luck doing this at a resort counter service/food court. Not so much at a store or in a park.

Never been there. Usually one person cannot order an item "for two" on a DDP credit although two people can. If it's not "for two" you can probably order it.

Never been there either but I haven't heard of any current exemptions.

Depends on the time of year and if you want peak dining times. If you're going in September that's during free dining. You might be OK at DTD or at resorts away from the theme parks. You likely won't get into any of the megapopular places (for example Ohana or Chef Mickey's) although there's no harm in asking.

-.

Yes. It is meant for 2 people so last fall when we ordered the dessert sampler it required 2 TS credits.

Same here! I wanted it when I dined there last Oct, but I was solo and couldn't get it. I did ask. However, there are some places that have items for two that you can get. I was able to get the antipasta platter for two at Mama Melrose as a single appetizer. (I was on the DxDDP, so got appetizers.)

I'd never heard of this until last night when someone posted that it was possible.

I really don't think this would be a problem, but you'd need to try to figure something out that morning, most likely. Just for fun, I've searched for same-day reservations, and usually at least a 1/2 dozen places show up. If nothing else, I'll bet you could get something like Captain's Grille at Yacht Club...and then, of course, there are the restaurants at Boardwalk that don't even take reservations.

Just for fun, I did a search for tonight - August 10th - for 4 people. We're in the middle of Free Dining, I think, aren't we? There were only 10 restaurants in all of WDW that didn't have openings. Most of the restaurants that had openings had "reasonable" dinner-time openings (between 5:30-6:45). This included placs like WCC, The Wave, Cape May, Captain's Grille, Kouzzina, Garden Grove, Grande Floridian, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's...Even 'Ohana had an opening, though it was way later than I'd consider eating.

Just check with the concierge in the morning and see what they can pull up for you. Maybe give a list of your top 5 places and see what they can come up with.

And no worries!

I fine if without a ressie for a meal time that i have better luck going right when the meal time opens for lunch or for dinner. so if dinner starts at 4 go right then...have done that in the parks and at resorts. DTD usually isnt as bad either....I have found planet hollywood usually really easy to get in there last minute.

I've been able to trade a cs credit for 3 snack credits, but I've only tried it at our resort, never at a stand or at DTD, so I'm not sure if it would work anywhere else.
