Dining plan question

We made reservations for December 3-8 at POFQ. We had the pin for free dining. My question is, does the dining go by number of days or nights. We are there 6 days, 5 nights. I thought it was nights, but a Disney rep said days....so now I'm confused. We are wanting to book our airfare for our final day and need to know if we can have a morning flight, or will we have that day to use dining and have to have a later flight?

It's by number of nights (how many credits you get), but your credits do not expire until midnight of your check out day.

Nights, as the previous poster said, BUT...you can use your credits from check in to midnight of the day you check out, in any combo per day. For example, you could do 2 - 1 credit TS meals in one day or 2 CS meals in one day.
You wouldn't have to use any credits on your last day.
But they are available through the end of that day if you need them.

I was reading this thread and I'm just trying to plan out my meals accordingly. The last time I did the dining plan was 2008 and that was the only time I used it so it was a bit confusing to me then. If I'm reading this correctly, if we are staying 5 nights, 6 days so we get 5 TS credits per person, 5 QS credits per person and 5 snack credits per person. There are 4 of us - 2 adults, an 11 year old and an 8 year old. Also my 11 year old is a bit of a picky eater, is she able to order off the kid's menu if she can't find anything she likes?

1) Yes, that is correct. You will get credits based on number of nights, usable between check-in and midnight following your check-out. They are usable in any order and any amount up to 1 meal per person (to prevent using credits for people not on the plan).

2) More than likely. Most places this is fine, there have been reports of a few restaurants that have pushed back. This doesn't seem to be the common case though. Also, inquire about "junior" meals, which are basically larger portions of the kids meals. Not all restaurants will offer these, but several people have had good luck with them.

If you do wish to order kids' meals for the 11 year old, it may be worthwhile to pay OOP for them and use the credits elsewhere. A typical kids' meal costs about $10, while a DDP TS Credit "costs" roughly $35. It may be a decent way to pull an extra meal for the adults, while not having to pay the whole thing OOP.
