We are planning our 3rd trip to Disney next month. We have not used the dining plan before. We tried to book thru Disney but could not find any availability during the time that we could go. Fortunately we did find something thru another source at a Disney resort (Port Orleans). Since we aere unable to purchase a pkg, can we still do the dining plan? We planned to get our park tickets at the resort (this is how we did it last time we went), and it was my understanding that the dining could just be an add on at that time? Thanks for any help...

Dining plan has to be part of a package and cannot be added on at check in. Did you ask this outside source if you can book a package with dining with them?

You must book a Disney package with tickets and room (all done in advance not at check in) to add the dining plan (also in advance). Travel agents can book these packages, you can book them yourself, but most of the large aggregators like Expedia and Orbitz do room only bookings, not packages.

Don't know where you booked this reservation, but you can only get a dining plan if you book a package through Disney, or have a travel agent book one on your behalf. (Only DVC members booking through Member Services can get a dining plan without a package reservation.)

Whoever told you dining could be added at check-in is incorrect, there's no situation where that can be done.
