Dining Plan question

I'm so overwhelmed with all this Dining Plan information. I'm still reading everything about it.

Have a quick question though: We are staying at Shades of Green with my parents. Dad only plans to do the park one day, while my family (DH, me, DS) are spending two days park hopping. We already have reservations for one character meal. Is it still possible to purchase a dining plan even though my father made the resort reservations months ago? And should I even bother purchasing a DP for my family?

As far as I know, you can add on Dining Plan anytime before you go. As far as if it's worth it, you should price the restaurants you already know you will be dining at and what you're likely to buy. It would be easy to see if you will spend more than the cost of the plan.

Generally speaking though, you most likely won't spend more than the cost of the plan unless you're going to buy some of the more expensive choices on the menu. Please remember also, that you have to buy the plan for everyone on the reservation for the length of your stay.

The dining plans are available only to guests of Disney-owned and operated resorts (which Shades of Green is not).
