Dining Plan Question

Hi, We have our next Disney holiday booked and have got 14 nights at OKW with free dining in August 2012. My question is this, we do not want to activate our park tickets until the morning after we arrived (19th) as we will be arriving late from Universal and we want to use them the day we depart (1st Sept), however with our dining credits are they only active once we activate our park passes or can we use them the day we arrive (18th) and they day we depart as long as we do not go over our allowance? It would be nice to be able to eat using the plan when we arrive as we are having problems allocating all of our allowances for the 14 days.

Thank you for your prompt response. This is what I thought but I wanted to be sure as we have not done the free dining before, we usually stay off site.

Yes free dining is great, so much food, we kept a tally last ime and two adults spent over $1300 in two weeks

Unless they change the system before you go you could use your tickets day you arrive and your last day. You probably won't want to enter a park the day you arrive but it is an option if you wanted to. After a few posts saying they thought it was possible I tried it out last month, we got 15 days out of 14 day tickets and 22 days out of 21 day tickets.
We will be trying it out again next July/August to see if the system has been changed.
Next year we will be doing 21 days DDP again, I expect us to total around $3,500 of free food between the 3 of us

We went for 16 nights last year with the free dinning but just went for the 14 day ultimate pass. It was hard resisting but we didn't do a park the first day, instead went for a late morning character breakfast @ the GF using our dinning credits and then did some exploring around downtown disney. We then activated our passes the next day.

It would be nice to be able to eat using the plan when we arrive as we are having problems allocating all of our allowances for the 14 days.

Don't forget that your meal credits expire at midnight on the day you check out, so will cover you across 15 days/14 nights.

If you still find you are struggling to use up all your TS meal credits, try booking a Signature Meal or Dinner Show (Hoop de Doo, Mickeys Backyard BBQ etc) which would use up 2TS credits - if you have kids, the Dinner Shows are good fun.

We did this last August with free DDP - as we were planning on 2 days at Seaworld, we booked Hoop de Hoo and a Character Breakfast to use up the TS credits for those days (as we usually use them for dinners).
