dining plan question

can only adults be on the plan or do I have to put my 10yr old on the plan as well? The problem is that my 10 yr old will not eat the amount of food that the adults recieve on the plan and I feel it would be a waste of money. to include him or should we just pay out of pocket for everyone.

Everyone on the reservation must have the same plan. So if you get it for the adults, you have to get if for your son. I suggest you look at menus and figure out what you might order and compare those costs to the cost of the dining plan for all of you to see if it will be worth it.
The last time we went DS ordered some adult meals and some kids meals. It was worth if for us since we saved more than we would have spent. He did not always clean his plate, for that matter neither did I, but he did like having the adult choices since the kids choices tend to be about the same everywhere. He only ordered the kids meals when there was nothing on the adult menu he would eat.

PP is correct, everyone must be on the same dining plan.

Now since your "child is an adult" under WDW's policy, that means he/she will have adult dining credits which anyone on the reservation can use.
So if you think it might benefit you to have those extra credits to use for signature (2 TS credit) places for you and your spouse that may work.

Meaning, you pay OOP for your child's meal and save the credit to use later. So for every 2 meals you do this for you and your spouse each have an extra credit to spend.

Just work the math and see if it benefits you.
