When your are a DVC member you don't have to have park tickets to add the dining plan correct? If so, my son is only 2 and will be at travel time, he also eats like a horse. Am I able to pay for him to be on the dining plan even though he is only 2 and will not have a ticket?

If he is listed on your reservation as a 3 year old, then yes, you can get him the DDP with your DVC reservation.

but will I be required to buy him a ticket, if he is listed as 3?

I just had this convo with MS the other day, because we can add the dining plan independently and if we add the parks to that we have to pay for our 3 yr old. Originally just my wife and I wanted the dining plan and leave our 3 yr old off it, because she nor her younger sister eat that much, but, as they made very clear all people in your traveling party 3 and older must have the same options across the board. Yeah I was a little disappointed, but understand why they do it.

Your situation is different from the OP because your daughter is 3 she isn't exempt from the dining plan nor a park ticket.

For the OP when staying on points you don't have to buy your tickets at the resort, you can get them at the parks. At the parks they aren't going to look up your reservation nor the dining plan you have when you purchase tickets so you won't have to buy a ticket for your 2 year old but could list him as three on the reservation to get hte dining plan for him.

One thing I noticed at Disneyland when I was there this past June is that in addition to Childrens meals they have something called a Toddler meal which was like $2.99 and I assume a smaller portion than a kids meal. I thought that would be great if they added that at WDW for the people in the same situation as the OP

Because the DVC reservations do not require a ticket to add the DDP, you will not be required to buy your 2 year old a ticket.

This is different than if you book through DRC as there packages require the ticket purchase with the DDP.
