Hey, I was wonering if it is possible to split a meal on the dining plan. For instance at Le Cellier:

Order appetizers (and pay for as they aren't on the plan) and then split an entree and dessert. Then only use one credit from the dining plan. The reason I ask is when we were there in May, it was just too much food.

Obviously this wouldn't work at O'hana or one of the other family style or buffet places, but the ones that you can actually order from the menu.

Thanks in advance.

No, my understanding is that they will NOT let you do this on the dining plan.

Actually, on this board we have had reports that sharing on the dining plan is not consistently prohibited at non-buffet/family style restaurants - with one exception. That exception is Beaches and Cream.

The prohibition is against sharing your meals with people who are not on the dining plan. There appears to be very little written or actual resistance from WDW to sharing meals within your dining plan party.

It sounds like a grey area. Might be worth it to just use the tables in wonderland card and save the 20%.

Just ask when you get to the restaurant. They can only answer yes or no, right?:rolleyes1

True, but the answer would possible affect me getting the dining plan for the next trip.

I don't see why this would be any different from one of you only ordering an appetizer as your meal and the other person ordering an entree then paying for the appetizer and using a TS credit for the entree. This is allowed. I don't understand why anybody would care who is eating which portion. What it comes down to is that you're paying OOP for things that aren't included in the DDP and using a TS credit for what is included. You can't be charged a second TS credit if you didn't order a second meal. IMO if a server refuses to bring a second plate then he's a poor server, though I do personally feel you should tip a little extra for the trouble of the extra dishes (he does have to serve and clear them). You're paying for what you're ordering. This isnt trying to get around a rule or scam anybody. The TS credit doesn't state for one person; it is for 1 entree, 1 non-alcoholic beverage and 1 dessert. That reminds me, you'd also have to pay for a second drink unless you're a water drinker (splitting the beverage WOULD be wrong since you really would be drinking more for the same price if splitting; with the meal you're not getting anything extra for no extra charge).

I would expect to have to pay for the extra drink and would definitely tip a little (about as much as if we were getting two full meals). I think that is only fair as the waiter/waitress would essentially be doing the same amount of work.
