If you're on the dining plan are you allowed to order ANYTHING from the menu or are there restrictions? If there are items not on the plan, and you order them, is there a surcharge? Or is that meal not allowed to use the dining plan? :cool1:

You can order any appetizer, dinner and entree on the regular menu. Anything that is not included on the dining plan would not be listed under these headings. For example, Teppanyaki used to list sushi as an appetizer...when they quickly became overwhelmed trying to make that much sushi for every person coming in and ordering it for the dining plan, they took it off the appetizer menu and put it on a different list called "sushi" which is an additional charge to order. Lobster used to be listed as enrtee's at many restaraunts, but when every person on the dining plan started ordering lobster, they took it off and put it on a separate list of items that could be ordered for cash or a surcharge.

You can find all the menus on allears.net to see what is included at each restaraunt.

I think hear in lies the problem. As more and more use the dining plan I expect to see more and more changes to what is listed as Appetizer, Entree and even Dessert on the menus.

Sammie, ITA!! I also think the people on the DDP will get fewer and fewer choices or a higher price.

Do you think this would be a reason not to do the dinning plan? Not make it worth it? I have been going back and forth and back again over getting the dinning plan for the 2 of us. Sometimes it seems worth it, then sometimes it seems easier just to eat what you want and not worry over it so much.
I don't like the idea of getting the plan then having stuff you want cost more anyway. To me it makes it not as much of a value then.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The only thing we were not allowed to choose was the sweet platter. Everything else was on the plan. It was so worth it for us we saved a fortune!

I think it is still worth it in the long run....especially if you like eating out and are planning on some caracter meals.

We (3 Adults) saved over $450 in October over the cost of the plan. We ate where we wanted to and ordered what appealed to us. For us it was great, and I would not hesitate to do it again. (As a matter of fact, I am heading to WDW in April with DS and DGD, DGS, DIL and we ARE getting the Dining Plan)
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. So really very little if anything would be an extra cost? The more I figure the more I lean toward getting it. It is around $455 for the two of us (6 nights 7 days). I figure if we eat at a nice rest. each evening it would more than pay for itself. If I am figuring correctly.
Thanks again for the help.

Yes very little is not offer ont he plan and the server will tellyou at the beginning if it is not just let them know that you are on the plan, I wfound that the servers oferdd the most expewnsive thing ont he menu if i asked what was good they are getting tipped based onthe amount of your bill so they want it as high as possible but this does not affect you becasue you already paid for it. yes you arre figuring correctly the sit down meals pay for the plan in a few days dependeing on wher you eat. Le cellier for three adults was 180.00 so if you go to threee rest urant the plan is paid for and you get a c/s meals and a snack on top of that

what happens if one day you just use the counter serivce, what do you do with the snack and table service for that day? Are they like tickets or something?

All TS, CS and Snacks are grouped as points on your room key (pooled) and can be used each day as you choose. One day you may choose to eat 3 CS meals, and another day all TS meals. The plan is flexible in that you can use it daily as you want.

What is not flexible is that you cannot used TS points for CS meals (which would in most cased be less expensive). Does anyone know if this has changed?
