We have the dining plan (for free!), and have two boys ages 10 and 6. It is my understanding the 10yr old will eat as an adult but the 6 yr old has to order off the kids menu. What can I do if the 6yr old has a fit somewhere and doesn't want stuff on the kids menu? Can I pay for him to get an adult meal? OrCan I make my husband eat the kids meal adn give my son his adult meal? My kids don't eat things like chicken fingers and hamburgers. They order things like big salads or shrimp dishes. We leave Wed! and it has just occurred to me this may be a problem. Also how varied are the kids menus - do they have anything that doesn't seem like fast food junk? THANKS!

Hey Catfish --

We are in the same boat except I leave Monday. I have two nephews who are six and ten years old. Well, they go right for the shrimp and lobster. I plan on just paying for the six year olds meal. I tried to plan some signature dining so we could use his credits and then some buffets (because it doesn't matter what you eat there).

I am also going to see if the CM will let him order off the adult menu. The whole logic does not make sense, you can OPP for the child and an adult can have a meal with his credits, so what is the difference if the kids don't order off of the kids menu.

To be honest, I am more than happy to pay OPP for the six year old, I would rather see him eat shrimp and lobster then fried chicken fingers and fried french fries, shrimp and lobster is much healthier.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

Thanks for posting the link to the kids menu...At least now I know what I have signed up for - the child cannot eat chicken fingers, hot dogs, mac&Cheese or hanburger at everymeal. Disney should be ashamed that they do not have healthy choices on the kids menu. Only one TS I booked, Sci-Fi has an alternative to the above (grilled chicken/raosted potatos/green beans). I wish I could have gotten some buffets - but I was late making my PS and with the new diding plan, I think many more people are eating at Disney and eating TS. I need to just plan on OOP for the 6yr old so he can get an occassional salad. I think if a salad costs about the same as a kids lunch, they ought to allow a substitution...maybe if I said he was a vegetarian? Or maybe I should just tell the truth and say eating only fast food junk makes him sick. I am no healthnut, but even Mcdonalds has improved its kid options.

An option would be at many TS restaurants is to pool your appetizers from the other 3 dinners and share. Appetizers at many TS places include healthy salads and then you child could still order off the kid's menu if required and split the other meals.
