Dining Plan Q’s

I am questioning myself and just looking for confirmation!

Party of 7, all over age 10 with one 2yo

Flight arrives 10pm 6/15 Pop Century 6 nights
Half of our party’s flight leaves at 7am, half a 5:30pm 6/21

Quick Service DP was purchased (I know, we probably don’t need it, but I digress)

This is how I understand our situation to work:
1) we each have a total of 12 QS credits
2) we can use them from time of check in until midnight on check out day

Correct?

3) is there a way for the half of the party who is leaving at 7am to reassign their credits to us? We won’t eat breakfast in the park enough to be worth it, but the half staying behind could feasibly use those credits in DS. Reservations were made together by the same person but ours is assigned to me, so I’m not sure they are truly linked. We each have our own reservation number. Or is it kosher for them to give us their MB’s when they leave and we can use those?

4) worst case, so as not to lose a credit, can we use a credit to purchase a kids meal for the 2 year old?

Do you have some amazingly better strategy for maximizing use of the plan to get the most out of it?

Dining credits are pooled per room. How many rooms are you in?

Why are you getting the plan? The QS plan is the worst value of all the dining plans and with no children, you’re likely going to lose a boat load of money compared to simply paying as you go. Trying to “maximize the value” of the plan is going to make it more frustrating.

I know, I know. The family member who booked it likes the convenience of halving it paid for, and actually with the addition of alcohol we may do pretty well on it.

2 separate rooms, the half leaving early is in their own room.

Hmmm. Not sure about using their MBs. In theory it seems like it should be fine since they are giving you the extra credits but you have to sign for the dining plan and you would be signing for another person's credits. Again, if the other party doesn't care it seems like you would be okay. The thing I'm not sure about is whether you will have the same issue with the dining credits as you do with FPs. If the other party leaves at 7:00 am they won't actually tap into the park. When someone tries to use a FP using the MB of someone who hasn't actually entered the park their MDE account is suspended which would affect any FPs or ADR you have. I have no idea if they even care about that with dining credits.

We only did the dining plan once and we ended up losing quite a bit of money on it because we simply couldn't eat that much food. We had several QS credits left over and between the 3 of us we had 12 snack credits left over. We had basically a full day for both our arrival and our departure and we still had credits left over. We haven't done it since.

Then it seems like you would be okay. You will need their passcode in order to use their MBs so just make sure you get that before they leave. Have fun!!

Depending on how you are going to be eating you meals whilst you are all there, you could do it without having to use their MBs. If you are planning to eat some meals together, the other room could use their credits for your meal. Therefore, they would run out earlier than you, leaving you credits to use on the final day?

AH Thank you, that is genius. Perfectly solves the problem. We'll just have them use their credits for our 4 people for one meal, and then we will end up with 4 left over on departure day! <3 Thank you!
