Dining Plan pin and separate reservations

We are going on a trip with 3 other families in January. My family will be getting the dining plan regardless whether it is free or not (hopefully free though!). I am not sure the other families are wanting to do the dining plan so I assume we would want to each book our packages separately. What happens if I receive a pin for free dining, am I able to use it on their reservations? Is it possible to rebook their reservations under my name so they can receive the discount as well?

No guarantee that this will be the same since Disney constantly changes the rules, but in the past you have been able to have up to three rooms on separate reservations per PIN. As long as the PIN holder is the lead guest on one of the reservations the others can be in different names and the reservations are cross referenced. BUT there must be enough availability for the room category and resort on your dates for the PIN promo.

If there are four families on this trip, and they allow up to three rooms to be booked, at least two of you would need to get PINs.
