Dining Plan + Park Tickets Question

Okay...I understand that to take the dining plan, all parties in the room must be on the same dining plan and that you have to purchase the same park ticket(s) package upon reservation.

My question is this - can one or more in your party upgrade their ticket if the original reservation had a lower option ticket for all?

For example, if we were to reserve during free dining with each in the party getting just the base ticket and then two of the four wanting/needing park hoppers - do all need to upgrade to park hoppers, or can just two of the four upgrade?

If, for example, we reserved where all in the room started with just the basic one-day ticket....could each upgrade as desired to the ticket they want over the course of the 10-day vacation? Right now we're in a pickle of a sort since not everyone going is wanting to do Disney 10-days of the trip, but others are.....so we're wondering if we can just start with everyone having a basic ticket and then we all upgrade if we want or just keep the base ticket if it's all we need.

That is perfectly legitimate. Buy the bare minimum tickets you need and just upgrade the ones you want to.

Thank you!

Now I'm wondering if one of the party can upgrade while there to an annual pass....is that doable too?

Oh...and here is another question....not really related to dining plan, but I'm wondering how do you get park tickets that are for longer than 10-days? Does Disney extend tickets beyond 10-days if you're there longer, or do you have to start again with a base ticket for additional days if you're staying more than 10-days?

yes, we have aps and others did need tickets. We all got 1 day passes and those that needed multi day upgraded no problem. We still have the 1 day passes.

Annual pass upgrades can be done from any normal (unexpired) MYW ticket, so yes, one or more members of your party could upgrade to APs from their package ticket.

10 days is the maximum MYW ticket. You'd have to start over or buy an annual pass for more days.

Thanks! I wasn't sure on the extended beyond 10-days ticket options....European visitors apparently can buy a ticket good for up to 14-days so I wasn't sure if Americans can or not!

I'm 99.99% positive it's not available to U.S. purchasers, and equally as sure that it wouldn't be available as an upgrade to anyone. That said, if you pay the $50 (plus tax) for the WPF&M option, you can get 10 "minor" park entries on top of a 10-day MYW ticket, all good for 14 days from first use.
