Dining Plan options - 2 resorts?

I think I know the answer to this already, but would appreciate some feedback. Im planning on staying 7 nights .. 1 night for cash at a Mod, then renting points at a DVC resort from a DVC member .. I dont see anyway to get a single DDP for my entire 7 nights .. I cant purchase a 1-night stay at POR and buy 7 nights of Dining (and tix) upon checking in to POR? The way I read it, the best thing to do would be to pay the DVC member for the final 6 nights attached to the DVC ressie?

No, you can't do it. The way to do this would be to buy a package for the first night with tickets that cover the full stay, plus dining which would only cover the 1 night - while you can extend the tickets, you can't extend the dining.

Then switch to DVC, and you would have to have separate DDP for the DVC stay. But you do not have to buy tickets to get DDP if you're staying at DVC on points. You would need to have the member you are renting from add the dining plan to your reservation and you'd pay for it when you check in - you do not pay the DVC member for the dining plan. For the first night's package, you'd have to pay that off ahead of time.

You can't get a room only reservation for the first night and add the dining plan - unless you have an annual pass, it has to be a package with tickets. Nor can you buy the dining plan on the package stay and have it cover the DVC stay.

But please note - you do NOT pay the DVC owner for the dining plan!!! Only the DVC owner can contact Member Services and reserve the DDP for you, but you pay for it when you check in at the DVC resort.

I know others have answered but just wanted to throw in that we have done what you're doing twice. We stayed at value for 1 or 2 nights and purchased a package with our tickets for our entire stay and DDP for the night(s) at the value. Then, upon transferring to DVC, we would just pay for the DDP at check-in (already set up in advance). Worked out great! Just make sure you use up your first set of credits before midnight the day you check out of the first resort.

Thank you both very much for your help .. to make it easy what I will end up doing is just having the DVC member add the dining plan for our last 6 nights, and just pay out of pocket for individual meals our first night. Thanks so much again.
