dining plan-odd question

Does the server know ahead of time that you are on the dining plan? Do you tell them in advance or what? I just made ADR's and the CM did ask if I was on a dining plan, so I was just wondering how it works.

It is noted on your ADR in the computer. However, 99% of the servers didn't know we were on the DDP. We actually told them after we were seated and ready to order. At this time we also told them that we would need separate checks if we were paying OOP for the kids or getting drinks or other stuff outside the DDP.

When you check in at the restaurant, the hostess writes on a little index card sized paper your details but I've never seen it actually say MYW DDP or anything to indicate that we were on DDP on that card. This is the card that the server then takes from your table.

My experience was that some servers were actually quite ecstatic that we were on DDP. They enthusiastically explained how the DDP would work exactly and what items we were able to get under the DDP. They would point out the items that are excluded and even mentioned that if we wanted any excluded items, it would be charged separately and we would pay OOP for it.
I overheard one server explaining in detail how the DDP worked to a family that was dining at a sit-down for the first time ever. He thoroughly explained the entire program and by the time he was done, that family was flabbergasted at the value they would receive with the DDP.

IMHO, you'll have a perfectly fine time with the DDP.
