DD(1) and I are headed to WDW for a week May - I made the reservations a while back and added the dining plan last month when it became available.
I just found out yesterday that DH will be able to join us for 2 nights mid-trip. Only DD and I are on the reservation, and tere is no way I am willing to pay for (or would use) 7 nights of DP for him. I really would rather not cancel the DP for me (is that even an option??) But we typically use EMH, so I know we will all need a resort ID - anyone have any ideas what my best option would be?

The rules say all people for the entire LOS. You have to decide what to do and whether to be honest.

I would call member services and ask. Other people have asked this question and I'm not sure any called MS for an official answer.

I asked in regards to an II exchange. I had two questions. 1. What if you were only staying part of the week? and 2. What if you had people joining you for only part of the stay. Here is the applicable info from the email.
Disney Dining Plan is based on the length of your
reservation at your Disney Resort Hotel. This can not be shortened for an II stay since those stays
are booked for a traditional 7 night week stay.
The plan must be purchased for the entire party for the entire length of stay.
When you call Member Services, the main person on the reservation (you) would be able to add all of
your guests names.
There is at least one report of a guest on the DP (not DVC) adding a person mid stay and not being asked to pay for them. But it is likely to be hit or miss and I doubt one wants to take the chance.

I'm sure you would have no trouble cancelling your DDP if that is what you want to do. It can be booked up to two days before checkin and I would think it would be the same for cancellation.

I talked to MS about a similar situation for a future trip. My husband may only be with us for the first night. MS told me that at checkin I could talk to the front desk about removing him from the plan if he will indeed be there only one night. I'm not willing to take the chance that he could be excluded so if he will be there only that night we won't book it. I'll wait until his schedule is set before deciding.

Frankly with only one adult on the plan and a one year old, I would skip the plan if I were you. Who knows when your baby will be ready to sleep instead of going to a restaurant. We always tried very hard to keep our children on schedule when at WDW back when they were babes. But there is so much extra stimulation at WDW that it can be hard to know when a baby will have had it. Oh, enjoy...those years go so fast!
