OK so I am really confused on the whole dining plan thing and I am hoping someone can help me figure it out. We are Florida residents and usually do not stay at a Disney resort so this is our first time even considering the dining plan.

My understanding is that Florida residents have different options in that we can have our AP (which we do), book a room and are then elligble for the dining plans (therefore it is not actually "package"). The first time I called to make our room reservations I was offered the QS dining plan at a cost of $185.94 (2 nights/3 days -2 adults/1 child). I said I'd call back.

According to mousesavers "The additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) is $34.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9)." I kind of assumed the rate would be the same/about the same for us and that total would be $163.94. (Is the price different for Florida residents since we are not doing MYW tix?)

I called DD back and was this time quoted $182.39 for the QS plan...not much difference from the first number but still different. I am just not sure what I am missing here and want to see if anyone can tell me what my cost actually should be and why.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've never heard of a different price for FL residents - I think it's all the same.

You want to purchase a ticketless AP package with dining plan. It IS a package, even though you don't have to purchase tickets. As such, it has all the normal package payment due dates, deposit requirements, cancellation windows - which are different than a room only reservation.

Quick service is the amounts you stated. I didn't try to figure out the amounts - sounds like the right amount for tax, but I thought there was no tax charged on the DDP prices.

You'd have to share everything about your package for us to really figure it out. I'm wondering if the difference has to do with AP discount availability under a package vs room only. Availability between the two can be different. Maybe in order to keep your AP discount you were switched from a standard to a preferred room? Maybe you lost the AP discount for one night?

Hope this helps -
We got a FL Resident (woods view) room rate at WL for two nights - $371.92 was the total for that. The first rep I talked to gave me a total quote of $557.86 (which=$185.94 for dining). The second gave me a total quote of $554.31 (which=$182.39 for dining). Based on the numbers I had seen previously, I had calculated our total to be $163.94 (2 adults, 1 child). Like pp mentioned, I too thought this price included tax.

At this point we haven't done anything - no change to the room or addition of the dining plan. My understanding is I get a whole new reservation should I add in the dining (so I could pay a new deposit with the DP cost) but just cannot seem to figure out what I am missing and if I should even bother...
