dining plan negotiation?

We're a part of 10, 1 week away from our reservations. We were planning to pay OOP since we are not big eaters. But the more I look at the numbers the more I think the peace of mind is worth the cost. I did OOP the only other time I've gone and it was perfect, BUT there were no kids involved.

Ofcourse maybe it isn't any more convenient. I've never been on the DDP so I don't know.

Anyhow, back to to the title. I could convince my party to go on DDP is we were to get lets say 20% off. If I call today and tell them that, would they be able to consider it or is it against the rules? I asked here first because last time I called it was a 50 minute wait.

Also, we missed free dining by a little over a week so maybe they have some leaway?

I don't get what you are asking. You can tell your group anything you want, but it's kind of a stretch to say that the DDP will give you 20 percent off.

If you intend to call and ask WDW to give you 20% off the dining plan in order to get your party to take it, good luck, but they won't do that.

I too don't think they would give you the 20% off. They may be able to let you know if there is a better discount than your current offer but that would be about it. They won't even let someone else use a pin code for a promotion (or at least they wouldn't let my sister use our pin code for free dining one year that we weren't going).

1. If you want the dining plan you will have to pay the stated price because Disney will not give it to you at a 20% discount.

2. If you are missing free dining by a little over a week, unfortunately, it means you do not qualify for the special. You must check in at the resort on a day when this or any other special is in effect in order to take advantage of the special.

You can call and see if there is any other special offer that would fit your vacation dates or you can go to the DisneyWorld website and go to the "Places to Stay" tab and click on "View Special Offers." When Disney has special offers they are firm about the requirements and restrictions so you have to make your plans work within their limitations or forego the special.

Disney does not negotiate prices. You pay the price stated, and that goes for any part of business with Disney. You cannot negotiate resort costs, tour costs, or rates. You can inquire about current discounts.

If I was trying to convince my group that the DDP was a cost effective way to dine in WDW, I would simply show them the menus as well as the prices. Disney can be expensive, but every family is different in how they like to eat. For many the DDP is not an option because they do not eat enough of what is included, and they want what is not. Before you decide whatplan you want, you all should try to determine where you are eating, and if you are all eating together. My family always gets the plan, but we know where we are dining, and even if we split up during the day, we all know what is included so with a party of 9, there is never an issue.

To be honest, if I wanted the DDP and the rest of my party did not, if I was in my own room, I would get it for my family.

I personally do not find the dining plan all that convenient. You still have to pay for alcohol, appetisers and tip so you always have a bill to deal with. If it included everything I could see the convenience but as you have a bill anyway we find OOP better and cheaper. Also for us we don't eat the way we would need to to use DDP to its fullest. If we had a QS lunch we wouldn't be hungry for a TS dinner so we find it isn't good for us. Depends for you on how you want to eat.

There are six of us plus the two of them. I love the reservations I have and just need to add the two of them. I just signed up for Diningbuddy and scout...should I just look for ressies for 2 or for all 8 of us?

I agree. I think that if you need to convince you party it is a good deal, and must try to negotiate a disount in order to do so, there needs to be some real research done in regards to the meals planned, and teh dining habits of those using it. I know how my crew dines, and I know what courses they normally choose when we have dinner anywhere, and I also know how each family reacts in terms of "sharing" costs. There are usually multiple "units" in our trips, but we all just split everything, and we never count what anyone uses. Some of us tend to order more, I drink alcohol with meals, others want appetizers. Sometimes a few of us share CS meals, and other do not. There is never a personal accounting at the end, so the is no problems. Not every family group is like this, so before choosing a DDP, it is a good idea to know if it will wok for the group.
