Dining Plan " Hidden" Gems

DHS, Studio Catering Company over by the HISTK playground-a DELISH baked chicken, rice and black beans meal. :thumbsup2

MK, CHH also has a hummus and brocolli slaw sammich that is very good.

Epcot, fish & chips (fries).

SSR has flatbreads. AKL (The Mara) has African Soup in a bread bowl. WL has sammiches with chips or pasta salad. I don't think SSR or WL even offers a burger if I remember correctly! Pop's food court is amazing-so many options!

OK here are a couple of my favorite hidden gems. one I found out last trip and the other i knew was already there.I really enjoyed the Turf bar and grille at Saratoga Springs( found out last trip)I had the Apple Cinnamon bbq ribs and OMG long about middle of the night I got up wanting more of them. lol.In fact I scheduled another trip there for my upcoming trip In Sept. And the other is the Earl of Sandwich.for my trip in May 2009 I htink that was were we ate most if not all of our counter service meals.LOL

At Epcot - China- Lotus Blossom - good orange chicken.
At AK - Flame tree BBQ- bulled pork or beef sandwiches-onion rings
At DHS - only had the pizza or I can't remember where else we have eaten
At MK- across from POC- tacos etc ( can't remember name of the place )

Our favorite has always been The Pepper Market at Coronado Springs Resort. They have tons of options, my favorites are the fajita platter and the ribeye steak with potato and veggies. The "cash cost" of the steak is $22.95 plus soda and dessert. While it is not a steakhouse quality meal I found it tasty and a great alternative to a burger.

My hidden gem is Staring Rolls @ DHS...you get a huge sandwich on this delicious foccacia bread, chips, drink (fountain or bottled), and dessert out of the pastry case -- I swear the cupcakes weigh at least a pound! Their hours are a bit limited, but to me it's the only decent counter service at DHS.

do you remember if they have tuna fish sandwiches?

In Epcot the fish & chips is one of my favorites.

Best hidden gym snack go to Goofy's candy company, and get the mickey head rice crispy treats (white chocolate and reeses cup crumbles)

In Epcot, Sunshine Seasons, in The Land has a great selection. We like the variety, everyone finds something they like.

Try POFQ food court for dinner - they have chicken, ribs, pot roast, and more. You can then walk down to the river and take the boat ride to DTD, or just go for a walk through the grounds.
I agree, the chicken dinner with mashed potatoes at POFQ during dinner was delicious. Also, the muffeletta with beignets for dessert was my favorite for lunch, I had them three times during the week! It was great that my granddaughter was able to get the rib dinner with sides as well, the chicken nuggets lost their appeal after the first day. We were on the quick service plan this trip so used snack credits to get bagels with cream cheese or muffins or cereal with milk for breakfast each morning before heading out for the day.

I agree with much of what has been said....especially Starrying Roll, Earl of Sandwich, WGP, and Sunshine Seasons.

Here a couple I haven't seen....

-Yak & Yeti (counter service), you can get Pork Egg Rolls or Chicken Fried rice for a snack credit.

-Captain Cooks at the Poly., Tonga Toast.

Another tip is if you use a CS credit for breakfast make sure to take your dessert (muffin, danish, etc.).;)

I can't believe as many times as we've gone to WDW I still haven't tried Tonga Toast -- what's wrong with me? :teeth:

We just got back from Disney on Tuesday and it was our first time using the quick service plan. We really enjoyed it! Some of our favorites were:

Pepper Market: (We stayed at CSR and ate here several times) chicken fajitas, pizza with a great homemade crust, and an amazing bakery. The breakfast options are good here as well.

Columbia Harbor House: The fish is really good! We love to sit upstairs.

Wolfgang Puck Express: Everything we tried was excellent! This was my favorite!

Earl of Sandwich: There are so many sandwiches to choose from! We enjoyed our lunch here. They also have yogurt parfaits for dessert which are a really nice change of pace.

Cantina de San Angel: We enjoyed our lunch here sitting by the water. The churro for dessert was really good too.

Flame Tree BBQ: Lots of shaded seating. The pulled pork was good. I really liked the key lime pie.

Cosmic Rays: The topping bar was really good! We liked customizing our meal there.

The Main Street Bakery and Goofy's Candy Co. were are favorite snack places.

All in all we really enjoyed using the Quick Service plan. There are a lot of great CS options.:thumbsup2

Saratoga Springs has an amazoing chef, Ron, who does a fantastic job with food allergies. At counter service we had gluten free homemade chicken fingers and fries - which are not even on the menu! Worth the trip even if you are not staying at the resort and looking for a unique and yummy counter service meal.

I love Wolfgang Pucks Express. Haven't had a bad item there ever. The BBQ pizza and quesedilla are my favs. I love that they 'serve' you dessert and food sometimes.

While at CSR the Pepper Market was tops! I tried the Asian 'bowls' OMG! So much food and it was freshly made. Awesome deal if on the DDP. The desserts are huge there too.

Sunshine Seasons has great food. Love the sandwhiches and recently I tried the Asian meal and that was good. The pork plate is outstanding.

I love breakfast foods in the Resort Food courts. Mickey waffles and omelets= :)
