We are making our first dvc trip this december and I have a quick question. Has anyone ever had any luck getting the dining plan added for an under 3? Our DD will be 2 1/2 and is a fairly big eater. I hate having to pay for meals for her OOP because it ends up being so much more than 12 dollars a day. Any suggestions?

Have member services note her as 3 and add her to your dining plan. You are buying park tickets separate I assume since u r DVC or have AP.

is there any way to do this without lying? I already have her on my reservation how do I change her age?

your mileage may vary, and this has been a few years ago. But when our son was two one trip we just said we'd like to buy the dining plan for him. The CM said that we didn't have to, but we said "we know, but we'd like to go ahead and pay for it so he'll have it." And they said OK, and made it happen.

Some caveats -

1. that was when the dining plan was pretty new, so since then they may have gotten worried about people getting extra "credits" for a child and put a nix on it, I don't know;

2. For all I know, the cm just put it in like he was three anyway, I don't know.

3. We all know that different cast members say different things, so who knows what you'll get depending on the training and understanding of the CM.

So it may never work, and there may well be people who say that they had a different experience, but I remember we did it once so you can try it. The way we thought about it was, we're paying for it so it shouldn't be a big deal. But, again, your mileage may vary. All you can do is call up and ask.

And if you call and they say no you can't, call back the next day and say "I added the dining plan yesterday, and when I looked at the total price it didn't seem right to me, so I wanted to check on it." Then they'll look and say "No, that is right, you have X number of people and it totals to Y" and you say, "Oh, no, we should have Z number of people." And they'll say "Oh, let me check" and they'll read out the number of people on the reservation, and when they get to the two-year-old they'll say "Now, she is two so she doesn't count" and you say "OH! that's the problem, she had a birthday" (and that isn't a lie exactly, she did have a birthday) and they'll say, "OH, let me fix that." And they'll mess with it for a while and come back and say "OK, now you have the dining plan for Z number of people, and your new total will be Q. Is there anything else I can help you with today? Do you need to make any dining reservations?" And you say, "No, that's it," and they'll say "OK, a new reservation confirmation will be mailed out to you reflecting the new totals, have a magical day." And then there will be that awkward second when you wonder if you should really hang on for that second to do the survey.
