Question: I have made plans for a spring vacation with my grandson in a Value Resort with the Quick Service Dining Plan. My daughter realized that there are two beds so she has decided that she and her husband want to go too. I figure if they buy their own park passes it shouldn't make any difference to me. I think the room rates are the same for 2 people vs 4 people so WDW should be ok with that. What about the dining plan? I don't mind providing a bed since we'll all be at the parks all day, but I have no desire to pay for their food and drinks.

No, either everyone on your room is on the dining plan (same one too), or they are not. Also, while you will be fine number/occupancy wise, there is an additional charge of (I think) 10$ per day/per adult (over 2 adults).

Also keep in mind that the resort cost is for 2 adults (real adults, 18+). Each adult over that number will cost an additional fee per night. Last I knew, this fee was $10 per person per night at values, $15 at mods, and $25 at deluxes.

If you're going to list them as guests in your room, they will have to have the same dining plan and tickets as you have. If you don't list them as guests they won't get keys and they wouldn't be able to access either Extra Magic Hours or Disney Magical Express transportation.

You can register them at check-in they will be given room keys in their names but no DDP since DDP has to be added and paid for i think 72 hours prior to check-in. Also with you, your daughter and her husband that's 3 adults so that will be a extra $10 a night.

I'd do what Joie suggests, add them at check-in and pay the $10/night extra then. That way only you and your grandson will have the DDP. If you add them now, everyone in teh room has to have the same plan.

Please note that if you go the route described- checking them in last minute- then they will not be eligible for Magical Express.

However, I would be concerned that they might charge them for the DDP when they arrived regardless.

They won't charge for DDP if you add them to the reservation after arrival. They can't be given DDP then. However, you'll be charged the extra adult charge for one of them (assuming the grandson is under 18). The previous poster is correct in that if you add them to the reservation AFTER arrival, then they can't access DME from the airport if they need it.

Also, if your daughter and her husband are not on the dining plan, you will not be able to share any food you buy on the plan with them. And you cannot use your dining credits to buy them meals either.

The beds in the Value resorts are double (full) sized beds - sounds kind of cozy for 3 adults and a child to me. But then I like lots of space when I sleep! ;)

were going to be at POP Century and they charged us $15 after all the tax etc per day for each adult over two and all on same reservation have to be on the same dining plan. They charged us two years ago at check in when I at last minute went with sister and brother in law..:thumbsup2

Everyone booked IN ADVANCE has to be on the same package. The Central Reservations computers are simply not set up to have folks NOT on the same package.

However, after checkin the resort front desk CAN add folks to the room as guests without adding all the package elements.

As previous posters have stated, if they need DME for their arrival, they won't be able to do that.

BUT, once they arrive at the airport, they can grab their luggage, go to the Mears desk next to the DME desk and purchase 1-way Mears tickets to their Value Resort. No questions asked, no proof of reservation. These tickets are $20 per person 1-way.

They will then be directed to a DME bus.

Upon arrival, you can then add them to your room as extra guests, pay the extra adult fee if it applies, then they will be given room keys.

If they need DME to go back to the airport, they can schedule a pickup at that time.
