Dining plan for only some guests?

I am planning a trip for about a year from now, and just wanted to make sure what I am thinking is actually possible.

My friend is a DVC owner and is gong to book a 2 bedroom villa and invited my family to join her. I think this will probably be like a Monday-Saturday. If that's the case, I would like to arrive the Thursday before and stay at a different resort Thursday-Monday. I will get whatever package I can with dining for the first part of the stay, but can I call and add the dining plan for just my family for the time we'll be in the DVC room with my friend? She and her husband prefer to pay OOP. Thanks!

You can't do it that way in advance, but I think you can be added to the reservation upon check-in and not have to buy the dining plan. Someone with more experience with this can answer for sure, though.

Hopefully someone with first hand knowledge will answer but in the meantime I believe only the owner of the DVC can book things.
And if it works like non DVC then EVERYONE on the reservation has to have the dining plan or not have it.
Its all or nothing.

No. Dining plan option is all or none for a single reservation.

This is correct.

Thanks all, was kind of worried that would be the case. I’ll just plan on paying cash for that part of the trip.

In theory, you could price out the deluxe dining plan for the first part of your trip and see if that would cover the whole trip.

Another option, particularly if you are guests of t he friend, would be to pay for the dining plan for everyone in the villa. It would be a nice 'thank you're gesture, and would cost hundreds less than paying for a room.

2 Bedroom villa's have a full kitchen which is why many DVC members don't do the dining plan but prefer OOP for the meals they buy. Maybe do a grocery run and spend some time enjoying the resort.
