Two of my kids have food allergies and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with how to deal with this. For example, I am planning on getting the dining plan, but have heard that sometimes the kids menu only has chicken nuggets and my daughter is allergic to chicken. In that case, would they let her have a hamburger or are there other options?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We had an unbelievably great experience with the dining plan and my son's milk allergy! I knew the table service meals would be fine, but the counter service I was more worried about.

At the TS meals, a chef came out to let us know what was ok on the menu (or buffet) and ALL of them offered special options they could whip up for him.

At the counter service meals they were willing to give us other options not on the kids meal and each register area had a binder full of ingredient lists.

I may have just had really great cast members, but in 6 nights worth of meal plan, we felt that they were willing to do anything to make sure he had anything he wanted!:cheer2:

I was at WDW 1 month before my nephew who has a milk allergy. I decided to scope out the how they handled allergies. They were fantastic. Every person who I talked to had a great experience and no worries about cross contamination or anything!

All you have to do is ask about the ingredients. The CMs should have the lists right there for you! All sorts of accomodations can be made for allergies. It is the only place that my sister didn't have to carry food around for my nephew. He could eat safely at WDW!!!

Relax and don't worry! Have fun!!!!

Hi
We are going in August and I have 2 daughters that have celiac disease (they cannot eat gluten). Email Brenda Bennett Brenda.Bennett@disney.com She emailed me a list of what was allergy-free in many counter services and snacks. She also said they would make exceptions with the dining plan if everything they offered on the kids'menu had gluten in it. Also, make sure you tell them when you are making reservations for your table service meals and they will mark it down. I have heard many great experiences of people who had allergies and eating at the parks. :)

My son has peanut and tree nut allergies and both times we went (Jan 2005 and Sept 2006) Disney was wonderful on the DDP. When I called in our dining reservations I made sure I informed the CM. When we arrived at each restraunt we were met by a chef who personally took us around each buffet or walked us through the menus. Lots of personal attention! At Chef Mickey's the chef brought out candy topping from the kitchen to make sure they were not contaminated from the buffet (gummy worms and such).
The counter service CMs did have books with all the ingredients listed. We felt very safe.

It has never been a problem for us (several food restrictions). They WILL substitute something your kids can eat, and if there is nothing suitable on the menu, they will tell you what they can make from ingredients on-hand. You don't have to do this, but we always note the allergies on our reservations, and also call ahead to the chefs to find out what special accommodations will be necessary/possible.
