I am a Dining Plan ignoramus. We have not used it because we always buy our tickets through Shades of Green at a discount (and usually hotel too) and we have the DDE card.

So, we are going in March (4 nights at the Swan - DH has a conference there and 4 nigths at the Poly - even though prices are ridiculous).

I'm not sure if I understand the dining plan totally. Do you only get meals for the days on which you have purchased tickets? I would like to still purchase my tickets through SOG, but may be willing to buy one day's worth of a ticket if it would get me 9 days on the dining plan. I'm guessing that's not the case, though.

Also, if they base it on nights in a hotel, I am only in a Disney hotel for 4 nites.

We do lots of sit-down meals and tend to eat full meals so the dining plan might be good for us in that sense.

Do any of you experts have any insight into my situation. Is this a possiblity for us or should I remain blissfully in my ignorant state?

The dining plan is based on the # of nights that you stay in a Disney Resort (excluding Swan/Dolphin and SOG), but can only be purchased if you get a package. That package has to include resort stay and ticket purchase, but the number of days of tickets purchased is irrelevant..the only requirement is a ticket purchase. The same package must be purchased for each person in the room (ie-You can't just purchase a one-day ticket for you and no one else..everyone must get that one-day ticket).

So as long as you purchase a ticket for each person in your room at the poly, you will get four days of credits. Note that you will only be able to use those credits after check-in to Poly until mid-night on the day of check-out of poly. You would not be able to use them while at Swan.

Well explained!!!! :worship:

You'll have to buy at least a one day base ticket with your POLY reservation. The expiration date doesn't start until you first use the ticket so you could just keep the ticket for a future trip.

MYW Dining includes an appetizer and dessert for lunch and dinner. You may be better off with DDE. You can use it for adult beverages, you won't be stuck with CS meals you don't want to use, you won't have to buy a pass you don't need and you won't order appetizers and desserts for everyone in your party just because it's included.

S/D doesn't participate with the dining plan, you could buy it for your POLY stay which will give you 4 TS, 4 CS and 4 snack credits for each memeber of your party.
