Dining Plan-Everyone in Resort Room or not?

Hello. I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I wanted to know if we book a resort and add the dining plan does everyone in the room have to be on the dining plan? We are planning to go to WDW while my husband has a work conference. He would be with us at the hotel and on the reservation, but he will not have park tickets or need the dining plan. Can we get the dining plan for just myself and our 2 children or does it have to be for all 4 of us?

Everyone booked in the room does have to be on the dining plan. However, this is one of those rare exceptions where you would be OK booking everything with just you and the kids then adding DH when you arrive. Unless something has changed since the last time I looked into this (which is honestly entirely possible), if you add him on arrival, he won't be able to get the dining plan.

If the husband needs to ride MDE to get to the hotel, he'll need to be on the reservation before check-in.

On the other hand, if he's going to a conference, he may be able to expense his transportation, heh.

That definitely is a solution to not requiring him to get the dining plan.
But he would not have any access to DME transportation, not could he have any FP+. I don't know if you planned any park time with him or none at all.

Is he getting the hotel reservation through the conference? That might put a wrench in your plans and you might not be able to get the dining plan. But if you are just making the reservation for your family, you should be able to add it. But they may require that you add it for everyone on the reservation. That is how it usually goes. And it is getting more difficult to add someone after you check in. They may have to cancel the rebook the reservation.
