Hi everyone. I am new to this board. I usually use the TIW card but we did not purchase APs this year so I am considering using the DXDP for a portion of my stay. I have an 8 night stay (Tues - the following Wed). I am planning on purchasing the DXDP for the day we check in (Tues) and again on Sat. I just want to make sure that I am understanding the credits correctly. Tuesday's credit don't expire until midnight on Wednesday, correct? Likewise my credits for Saturday will not expire until midnight on Sunday. Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks!

Can you only do the DxDP (or any of the dining plan options) for certain days of your stay like that? I'm a dining plan newbie.....just did it for the first time this past June with free dining so I'm interested to know if you can do it on only a couple days of your stay.....:confused3

ETA: I understood that dining plan credits expire by midnight of your check-out day

Yeah, same here- any ideas?

Only DVC members or those renting directly from a member can split up DDP like this, basically making multiple segmented reservations. The actual member has to do this for you with DVC reservations.

For all other packages the dining plan has to be purchased for your entire stay and for everyone in your party. If you have a split stay those are considered separate so you could have the DDP on one reservation but not the other, but that involves checking out/in and possibly moving rooms.

Thank you for clarifying that for us! Obviously I'm not a DVC member or I probably would have known this! :)

Provided you are on a DVC reservation which is segmented to allow that, yes, your understanding of it is right. If you buy a DDP for Tuesday night only, the credits will be good from when you check in on Tuesday until midnight on Wednesday (your "check-out day").

You might want to read some of the posts on the DVC boards - this segmenting thing has not worked out well for some members - messed up key cards, dining credits, etc. - lots of time spent at the resort front desk.

I'm segmenting my DVC stay in a couple of weeks, in order to take advantage of the DXDDP for two days. I'm using the plan for Sunday and Monday nights, so the credits will expire on Tuesday night at midnight.
Of course I have changed ressies multiple times, but I'm using it like this as of my latest plans:

Sunday check-in
Dinner at Flying Fish

Monday
Light lunch with snack credits
Dinner at Artist Point

Tuesday
Breakfast at Boma, late
Dinner at Boma

The plan costs $631.92 (4 Disney adults, 2 days), and we'll get apprx $972 of meals, snacks, and mugs. :thumbsup2

Thank you for all of the information. I am sorry for the confusion I created. Yes I am a DVC member and I should have stated that. The ability to segment reservations and pick and choose DP options by the day is a great benefit. I would have never considered a DP otherwise.
