Dining plan changes

Can anyone verify this? If you are currently at Disney World and are testing the dining plan changes, please post an update. We have an upcoming trip and would like to know what changes have been made. Thanks!!

I hope that they will not reduce the number of place accepting the dinning plan.

Is the Boathouse on the dining plan?

It will be interesting to see what they do with the new downtown locations...as they want Disney springs to be heavily shopped by off property customers.

The dining plan is 10 years old...even though popular - I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on the next gimmick.

Yes boathouse is on as two credits

I am going to be so glad about this change! We had the dining plan once (free), and threw away most desserts. I felt like it was such a waste of food. Plus, my son couldn't eat any of the cookies offered or cakes, since he's allergic to dairy and egg. And, honestly, have you tried sugar free jello? YUCK. We have free QS dining first week of September, and it will be great to get a side instead of dessert!

The dessert change will get the most mileage out of me. Half the time I don't want the dessert, but will get it anyway since it's 'free'.

In the comments section of the disneyfoodblog article, there was a lot of talk of exchangimg one CS meal for 3 snacks at F&W. But the article states the whole transaction is to be done at the same place (unless I'm reading this wrong?)...wouldn't that prevent the switch to happen unless you were to get three things from the same kiosk??

That's how I read it.
