Im considering the $20 dining plan for our Universal trip. I read that it covers a quick service meal and drink and a snack and a "additional" beverage (all non alcoholic). But on one website I read that the Three Broomsticks and Leaky Cauldron are not on the plan. Does anyone know if that is correct? Do you have any adice? As in, what counts as a "Snack" and can the "additional " beverage be butterbeer?

When I was there the beginning of January, Three Broomsticks and Leaky Cauldron were part of the plan. The beverage with your meal at those places could be Iced Tea, Water, Apple, or Pear Juice (and maybe one other). Butterbeer was considered your snack and not a beverage. I have a refillable mug so most days it didn't help me. You can purchase the quick service plan while your ordering at the restaurant so you don't need to decide in advance. If you aren't planning on getting a refillable mug, and your ordering an entree over about $10.00 you'll probably come out to the good getting the plan. Any less than that and you'll need to make sure you get an expensive snack or second beverage to break even.

i used the quick service meal at the 3 B's last october.
it's where i bought it.

I like that we can wait todecide to purchase the plan until we're there at the parks. How about if I (as an adult) don't eat a lot. Can I purchase a child dining plan (counter service type) for myself? Or are the dining plans tied to the park tickets (like if we have 3 "adult" tickets over age 10 & 1 child we are only allowed to buy 3 adult & 1 child dining plan)?

you can buy the quick counter service plan in the restaurant.
the first time i bought it, i was at the 3 B's.
the TM that rang me up asked if i wanted to purchase it and told me all about it.
she said it was worth while at some of the places and you could come out ahead based on your food order.
i orderd the chicken and ribs dinner there and it was $16.99 for that dinner.
in buying the service plan, it was to my advantage.
you get a free beverage with your meal if you buy this option.
meal with tax was just about $18 and a free drink would be included if i bougth the quick service deal.
so for the $21 i paid for the deal, i got the chicken/rib with sides and a beverage .
also given tickets to use in the park for a beverage of my choice (butterbeer) and a snack.
lbb at that time was under the snack offerings the coupons i received could be used for other [paces in the park within a 7 day period
i came out ahead by $6-7 dollars that day,,,,,,,,bonus!
you do need to know the cost of places where you will save money.
it is to your advantage to go with this deal, it is wellworth it

another place i bought the meal deal was at louies. got the pizza and salad and drink for about 17 and the coupons of a snack credit and beverage to use anywhere in the park.

son used his coupons on a bucket of popcorn which he wouldnt share with me and a coke; still a deal where he saved money on the deal.....

a grown up bought the kids meal and no tm said a thing about it

your food ticket is not tied into the counter service plan.
this deal that has been offered is done by the eateries

you don't have to use the free beverage or snack coupon that same day.
they are usable up to
week to be in the park

Butterbeer was considered your snack and not a beverage.

Curious to know how many others have been like macraven and able to use their beverage for Butterbeer, and who had the same experience of johde in which they were denied Butterbeer as a beverage and had to use their snack credit for it?

butterbeer is a snack credit.
for some freak reason, they took my beverage credit last time and not the snack credit.

butterbeer is listed as a snack credit, not beverage

That is one thing about Universal YMMV seems to happen more frequently. For Example, Buzz Cola is supposed to be a specialty drink and not eligible to be used with the refillable mugs. But, I got it no problem with my meal at Simpsons Fast Food Blvd. It could have been because I was also ordering a meal. But, it's worth politely asking for what you want. You never know what might happen.

I shared the dining plan with my mom last August. It was a great value because we got:
Spare Ribs platter at 3 Broomsticks - $15.99
Pear cider at 3 Broomsticks - $3.99
Pumpkin Fizz at 3 Broomsticks - $3.99
Butterbeer Ice Cream at Florean Fortescue's - $5.99
Approx Total Value: $29.96 for $19.99!
