Dining plan and split stays?

This is the first time we've done a split stay (and our first DVC trip!) so I'm not sure how the dining plan works (yeah, I know all the cost effective arguments but we like having it planned out, done and handled. It works for us.).

We have a reservation for2 nights for Star Wars weekend at Boardwalk and then will be moving over to Grand Floridian. I have two separate trip confirmation/reservation numbers as we added the weekend on well after booking the GF portion of the trip. I guess what I'm really wondering is if it would be ONE dining plan for the whole length of our time at WDW or if it would be 2 separate dining plans, one for the BWV portion and another for the VGF portion. Do I need to make room in the cabinet for one more family set of resort mugs or two after this trip?

Thanks!

Dining plans are tied to individual room reservations. Your plan for the BWV stay will end the day you move to VGF. Plans are supposed to be usable until midnight of your check-out day, but the current resort system requires that you be checked-out in the computer before they can check you in for the next reservation. Once checked out from the first segment, it may block the use of any remaining credits from that plan.

As noted, separate plans. That gives you the opportunity to get a DP for one segment and not for the other or even a different plan for each. As noted, they will (should) be good until MN on the checkout day. Just make sure you use any old credits first on change day. It'll be interesting to see what you think about it after you actually use it. We like it when the numbers work but we don't mind planning our trips around dining options for many situations.
