Dining plan and split stay question

We had to book a split stay because our preferred resort didn't have the room catagory we wanted for the duration of our stay, so we'll have to swtich rooms midway through. I'm sure this complicates our dining plan.

We have two nights in one room and three nights in another. We check in Saturday and then switch rooms on Monday.

When do we need to use up our initial dining credits by? Before checking in again on Monday or before the end of the day Monday?

Are you purchasing the dining plan for both reservations? You have through midnight to use your claiming credits, but there have been reports of problems if you check in to the second stay before using them all. It can be fixed, but it a lot of extra takes time and effort.

Yes, we had it added to both reservations. Thanks for the quick answer!

Your credits from the first resort expire at midnight on the day you check out, so you can continue to use them all day after you've checked out. Your credits from the new resort are available as soon as you check in. As previously posted, the problem is if the system charges the credits from the new resort instead of the expiring ones. You need to pay attention to the restaurant receipts on that day, and work with the resort to fix it if the wrong credits get charged. Ideally, to avoid the hassle, you'd exhaust the credits from the first resort before checking into the second.

I had leftover credits from my first stay when I check in for my second stay. The check-in CM printed out a list of what was left to use by the end of that day. She told me those credits would be used first before the second set of credits.

I am more worried about your tickets. How are you handling that issue? Are you paying for the Dining Plan, is it Free Dining? Or did you book a ticketless package?

Our tickets are attached to our first reservation. I'm not worried about them. We've done split stays before and the tickets have always been fine. We've just never done one with DDP.

Didn't you have to buy tickets for your second stay with the second dining plan?

Ordinarily, yes, that would be required.

We had a very nice CM who helped us out. We aren't switching resorts and really wanted to stay in the same room at the same resort for our entire stay, but there just wasn't availability. I accidentally attached the tickets to the second reservation, so I called to see if they could switch them to the first, and the CM said she'd have to cancel and rebook us. She offered to try to find a room for the duration of our stay and I said I'd love if that were possible because we had wanted to purchase the DDP. She couldn't find a room so we had to keep our separate reservations, but she did sprinkle a little pixie dust and apply the DDP to our reservations for us :)

No, you can book a ticketless package over the phone that includes only the room and dining plan. A ticket purchase is only required for free dining.

Two sets of tickets is prohibitively expensive. A one-day ticket is required for paid dining plan. A two-day ticket is required for free dining plan. Then there's ticketless dining package, if you know about it and ask for it. Sounds like the CM booked ticketless for OP. That was good of her.
