Dining Plan and Service?

My only hesitation about the dining plan is that the tip is included and even though I plan to tip extra for good service, servers may not know that...

Has anyone who used the dining plan find that the service wasn't as good because they were using the plan?

Only place that I didnt was at Spoodles - everywhere else was totally fine. The dining plan is great :thumbsup2

Servers generally don't know how much patrons will tip (extra or otherwise) until after the bill is paid, anyway.

I thought the overall service went down at all the TS places but it might have been that I went during the free dining plan promotion in late Augus so the on-site restaurants were really crowded (especially the parks restaurants) and I just attributed it to frazzled wait staff. Our November trip is a short one (4 days) and I'm not using the DP

In september we did a split stay haf with DDP and half without, in all places, bar one, the service we got was very good. The only place we had poor service was 'Ohana, but this was at all tables and not just ours so I do not beleive it was for DDP.

I think that because a lot of us tip extra for great service with DDP the serviers in some places may have relaised they can still get extra.

That's true, but I noticed during our last trip that the servers asked us when they introduced themselves and took our drink order whether or not we were on the dining plan.

In most of the resteraunts I found the service so good that I gave a bit of an extra tip (and I don't like tipping!) the only ones I didn't where Planet Hollywood as I seemed to be invisable and Sci Fi because he called me SIR!!!!!!!!!

Yes. They need to know that so they can help you understand what is and is not included on the Dining Plan. They know that that has little to do with whether or not you will tip (extra or otherwise).

Just got 4 days ago and we were on the dining plan. The service was great and we tipped extra a most meals. We love the dining plan!! :cheer2:

We were on the DDP and had excellent service at most places, especially at the signiture restaurants. We did tip extra at many places and the servers were very greatfull.
