I'm traveling to Disney with my DH, DD (5) and DD (18 months). I know that if we go to a TS or CS meal, we will have to pay for my toddlers meal. What happens when we eat at a buffet? I know that sounds like a stupid question but the restaurant sees her eating will they charge us? :confused3

Thanks for all your help!

I believe they are allowed to eat off of your meal so you can pick some items and share with your18 month old.. After all, how much can and 18 month old really eat! I never had a problem with this.. and we never ordered a toddler meal.. we jut fed our toddler some of our food...

We are also going to be traveling with an under 3 year old, and my understanding is that they basically eat for free at buffets, as well as family-style meals (like Ohana and Garden Grill). A few isolated reports have come from people saying the restaurant tried to charge for them if they ate off of their own plate at a buffet, but 99.9% of things I've said were that they eat for free. Hence us having 6 family-style/buffet meals this trip! Have a great trip!

We've taken nearly 3 yr olds (who were big for their age) and have never been charged. They ate with us at buffets and family style places. At Cali Grill he shared his brother's flatbread meal (we were planning on buying him a dessert but we ended up with birthday cake instead for hubby). At Ohana, we ordered him a chicken tenders meal like his brother and I expected to be charged for it, but the server said since he was under 3 it was free. I fully believe this to be ONLY because she was either just very giving or in a big hurry and didn't feel like messing with the charge. Either way, I tipped her extra well!:rotfl:

No, buffets will not charge you. On your bill it will say under 3 meal or infant meal and list it as zero. We went in January and are going again in August with two children under 3 it worked fine. No problems at all. We did buy the kids a few meals but we paid for them OOP no big deal there either it was just a different bill! Hope you have a great trip!! :thumbsup2

"Infants" (children under 3) are free at all buffets and "all you care to eat" restaurants. At other places, they can simply share of of the other plates, or you can order additional food out-of-pocket for them. From my recent experience, most table service restaurants will provide the "infants" with milk at no charge (Wolfgang Puck Express was the only one of the nine "regular" TS places we went to that charged for milk) if they're sharing off of another plate.

I have never been charged for an under 3's drink. I think since you can technically share your drink with the child, all they are really doing is providing you with an extra cup.

There is no charge at all for those under 3 at buffets. They have juice boxes, but if you bring a sippy cup, they will bring you a cup of milk (etc) to fill the sippy cup. No charge.

I have had a child under 3 on the last three trips. At buffets and family style restaurants, you are allowed to get a plate for them - you don't have to feed them from yours. We had a couple of TS resturants last trip (dd was 3 weeks away from being 3) offered to bring her a plate and we were never charged. The only place we were charged for her drink was at Coral Reef although they gave her a sundae (like her brother) and didn't charge for that. Depending on what CS places you choose, you might need to buy the little one something - most of the servings are quite small. We did split adult CS meals between both kids at several places.
