I was doing some random check reservations yesterday, and I noticed that with party of 8, there are never tables. Move down to 6, a few times were available. Move down to 2, there were times but different ones than 6. How likely am I to get a table for 8??? If I do 2 tables of 4, will we be able to sit together? Is it better to call the number instead of online with a large party? Also, will my 2 year old need to be included in reservations since he has no ticket? Thanks.

Try for 8. If you can't get it, take 2 tables for 4, but keep looking for a seating for 8.

If you can only get the tables for 4, ask at the podium. If they can seat you together, but be prepared to sit apart. Sometimes tables can be pushed together, sometimes they can't. Sometimes a larger party ahead of you shows up with less people and takes a smaller table than expected leaving a larger one open.

We typically travel with a party of 9 and almost always get what we want. We map out where we want to eat each day and are online as soon as reservations open up at the 180 day mark.

There are a few where it's almost impossible to get us all at the same table but in that case we just book a 5 and a 4 for as close to the same time as possible. Some places just don't have tables that big. When we do that we make sure we all check in at the restaurant together to possibly get seated as close together as possible. The Grand Floridian Cafe was able to get us all at the same table.

Places where we recently had to split up include: Garden Grill, Sci Fi, and Homecomin'.
Reserved tables for 9 recently at: Whispering Canyon, Yatschman, Cali Grill, crystal Palace, 50s Prime Time, Ohana, Boma, Cape May, Chefs de France. We also were all together at Garden Grill during our last trip so that one just depends.

Hope this Helps!

Like everyone else said, keep trying or just put 2 tables of 4. Last year we were a party of 10, and we got all of the ones we wanted. Even Be Our Guest and Chef Mickey's. Some I did 2 tables of 5, but later on managed to edit them to 10. So, it's not impossible, it might just take some work sometimes.

Also, yes, you need to include your 2 year old even if he has no ticket. I went with my nephew when he was 2, two years ago and I had to include him. Via Napoli gave him a free kids meal, but I don't know if that's the norm. All of the other places we ate were buffets so we always grabbed something for him and they always asked for something for him to drink at no charge. Again, don't know if that's how it's supposed to be.
