We have just booked the 7 days for the price of 4 package over Labor Day weekend, with meals on our own. There are 2 adults, and 2 kids -- a 13-year old boy and 9 year old girl (kids are not big eaters.) We plan to eat TWO big meals per day at nice Disney restaurants or buffets, and snacks in between. Would it pay us to convert to the meal plan? Your thoughts, please.

:D

The silver add-on would be $67 per day (two wishes per day total out to $33.50 for each wish) for all members of your party. The cost of silver add-on for your family would be $1876 ($67x7 days x 4 people. If you are DC member, there is a slight discount for the add-on.

Were you planning on using any of the wishes for recreation activities (boat rental, spa, etc)? If the wishes will be used for meals only, your family's lunches and dinners would need to cost 33.50 for each meal for you to get 'your money's worth' from the plan. Since you say your children are not heavy eaters, that is something to consider. The plan is not a good value if used for character meals, counter service, and items on the children's menu in the table service restaurants. I would suggest taking a look at the menus at www.wdwinfo.com or www.wdwig.com and check the prices at restaurants at which you would be interested in dining.

On the other hand, if you want the convenience of knowing that the bulk of your meals have been paid for ahead of time, then the plan is a consideration. IMO, that's a rather hefty price tag for convenience.
