Dining outside Disney

Next February we are spending the first week at AKL and the second week offsite at Wyndham Resort on Intl Drive. I am looking for some dining suggestions for the second week.

I have looked on the US boards but would like a view from the Brits.

Initially the ones that appeal to us are
Boston Lobster Feast
Benningans (ate there last time)
Shogun Teppanyaki (or another similar)
Bahama Breeze
Texas de Brazil

All suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated as good food really makes the holiday in my opinion

Only remember DH always wanting to eat at Hooters in Point Orlando but we looked around the Wyndham Resort 3 years ago, whilst staying on I Drive, it looked really lovely

www.alehouseinc.com very large portions The Nacho starter with cheese and chicken for $9 will easily feed a family of 4. (less than $2.50 a head for meal, bargain)

We like Race Rock on I Drive

Chilis is fantastic for food and value. We love thier Shanghai chicken wings. Race Rock had good food aswell. Both places were very cold with the A/C on full whack so unless your going in August take a cardy to wear inside!

If you enjoy Steaks or Lobster tails then Charleys Steakhouse is a must. Located on International Drive the steaks are to die for and being the 2nd best Steakhouse in the USA it is not surprising (http://www.charleyssteakhouse.com)

There is a Tony Roma's, great for ribs, on I Drive and at Mall at Millenia is the Cheesecake factory, they have an extensive and very tasty menu, well the food is

I would avoid Boston Lobster Feast on I drive, it is not very busy and the lobsters were not good, if you want seafood than I'd suggest Red Lobster.

For Teppanyaki Kobe is very good, and Texas de Brazil is also excellent. You can join their e-mail club and they will send you e-mail offers most months.


If you want good steak then Ruths Chris is also very good.

The only one that we have eaten at is Boston Lobster Feast ~ Never again. Food was horrible, service terrible, never again. Far too many Disney restaurants that are so much better.

We tried a bennigans the last time we went, I thought it was nice, not bad value for money either. They have nice coleslaw!

Another vote for Bennigans and Golden Corral. Last two trips we always did Ponderosa a few times but when we went just now it was pretty awful so we didn't bother again. We went to the Cheesecake Factory at Mall of Millennia too, yum!

We love Race Rock and also like Golden Corral, we were also dissapointed with ponderosa last time we went.

if you want seafood than I'd suggest Red Lobster

Forget about Red Lobster ~ We usually go to the one on the 192 after visiting Walmart

Some interesting replies. I will forget Boston Lobster Feast and will look for another seafood restaurant. We mainly want lobster and crab

We ate at Ponderosa the last time we were in Orlando - 5 years ago - never again

I will be looking at the menus for the other recommendations too

We personally love Sizzler (we go to the one on the 192) we ate there nearly every night when we went in September - and a couple of breakfast buffets

Its not everyones choice but it is very good value.

Bottomless shrimp is good.

I didn't like Chillis or Outback - having been loads of times in Oregon the service and portions weren't up to the standard that I've come to expect.

We liked Tony Romas for steak, Olive Grden Italian and Don Pablos Mexican, all on I Drive. For breakfast we ate in the Ponderosa but after reading this several people have said its not so good. We were there in 2004 and found them excellent, whats changed?

This time around we will try IHOP as we are into pancakes. The reason we didn't try last time was because they wanted to charge our then 4 yr old for his breakfast when we knew he would not eat anything apart from some toast. Ponderosa was free for our John.

We were at Ponderosa in August and it was just the same as ever. I think again its personal choice. I think the OP and some other posters prefer finer dining to buffet style which is fine for them but we prefer a buffet meal.
We have done a few Disney cruises now even though the meals are nice for a few days we enjoy getting off and going back to Ponders and Sweet Toms etc. hmm them chicken tenders at Plutos Doghouse I could just eat them now.
