We ate counter service at the German pavilion once when we were sampling food around the world. DH ended up being the only one eating it because the rest of us didn't care for the taste.

Is it safe to assume that if we didn't like the CS food we wouldn't like eating at their TS restaurant? I know, seems like kind of a DUH question but the German restaurant sounds really fun.

We love Germany, but then again we like the food there. My kids love the chicken spaetzel. It's like a chicken fried cutlet. There are a lot of foods on the buffet though, so you probably would find something you liked. You could always make a PS and then go in and look at the food before you committed to see if you would be ok eating it. This has been a family favorite since my kids were little.

There are a LOT of choices at the buffet. Go during lunch (lower prices) and try a little of everything. :thumbsup2

I think if you didnt like the CS offerings, its safe to assume that you probably wont find enough on the buffet to really make the trip worth while. Now, the atmosphere and entertainment is awesome, and may be worth stopping in just for a beer, but I'd save your money (or TS credit) for something you are likely to enjoy more.

I also like the idea of the entertainment but not too sure if we would like the food. Do they allow you to just stop in for a beer and watch the entertainment? Now, the idea of a beer on a hot afternoon certainly does appeal to me!!

Personally I don't care for the food, but I'm a VERY picky eater. DH loves it so I go for him and the entertainmnet. I usually just eat the rice, deserts, veggies, and rolls. If you decide to try it hit it at lunch as it's cheaper. You should also be able to find online a list of items served as this might help guide your decision.

In response to another posters question, I have seen people bring in CS/paper sack lunches and eaten there to watch the entertainment. They sat off to the side. I thought that it was odd and usually resturants don't allow it. Perhaps it was because it was a slow day, who knows :confused3 .

Biergarten (The TS restaurant) is one of our favorites. We feel the food is wonderful and would highly recommend it. I personally do not feel the CS version will help you determine whether you will like the TS of Biergarten. The food is of much better quality at TS and the entertainment is wonderful. This has been a highlight of our WDW trips the last 4 visits. It's not to be missed IMHO.

Well, this Irish gal is not big on sausage and most German foods. I was afraid there would be nothing there for me until I noticed the desserts! Only kidding but there is some truth to that! There was plenty of things to pick from for me and my belly was full. It was a great time for all of us.

I would not discourage you from trying it there is enough of a slelection that you should be satisfied in and by all means GET UP AND DANCE~~~ HAVE FUN AND ENJOY!!!

Thanks so much! Sounds like its something we should give a try. Is the entertainment just as good at lunch as it is at dinner?

I'm a huge fan of German and German-American food. While I'll pass on the CS "Sommerfest" (except for the beer, of course!), I really enjoy Biergarten. The table service has plenty of selections. I'll pass on Sommerfest because I make a better German sandwich!
