Just two days and we will be at the poly. I had a quick question on what Disney's policy is with having children eat from our plates.

My two year old should be ok with no charge, but will they insist I pay for my daughter as well if she is eating from our plates? She eats so little!

From what I have read on these boards, Disney has no problem with meal sharing. Except at buffets, of course, you will have to purchase a meal for the older one, under 3 is free.

You won't have any problems at the regular sit down places, but at any buffet, family style places or character meals, you'll have to pay for your 6 year old.

My youngest DD still shares a lot of meals with me, and she's 7 now! The portions are pretty big, and she hardly eats anything. I usually get her a kids meal if I've ordered something that she doesn't like, or if she really feels like chicken nuggets. My older two teens sometime share their meals too (so they have room for dessert!) Its never been a problem at Disney.

As the above poster stated, buffets are different.

Enjoy your stay!!!

Oh Poly in two days, I'm so jealous. Anyhow we had our six and 1 1/2 year old last year and they were so nice to both kids. Never a problem at meals for the little one. As a matter of fact my DS (6 y.o.) is mildly autistic and never eats anything at restaurants and at the buffets I had to make sure and explain to them that he would not be eating so that I wouldn't get charged for him. They were more than willing not to charge for him. I did pay for him at Chef Mickey's though but at Cape May Buffet and Trails End there was no problem. Did that make sense, my coffee fix has worn off!

Hey I am planning on sharing some meals with my DH and he is 44!! Really sharing is fine anywhere in WDW from what i have read. We had never done a lot of sharing at WDW but have started doing that a lot at home and love it. You can get an appitizer to share, share the entre', and then get one desert and be full with out being stuffed. We can never eat all three alone. I do also share a lot with my DS 10 who loves steak but is a small eater. It all works out fine.

We were almost charged for a children meal at WCC last December for our 2 year old. Just check your bill to make sure there aren't any charges for children under 3.:D

My older DD 8 often shares with me, or orders an appetizer from the adult menu, my younger DD survives on cheeseburger.....

Here is the scoop:

If you are dining at a buffet or family style meal, you won't have to pay for your 2 year old, but will have to pay, regardless for your 6 year old (child's price, of course), if she eats at all. There is no plate sharing here.

If you are dining at a full service restaurant, your 2 children are welcome to share with you, but if you order something for the 2 year old, there will be the regular charge for a child's meal... same as if you had ordered for the 6 year old.

Children under 3 only dine free if it is a buffet or family style meal, or if you share at a ala carte restaurant.

Hope this helps:)
