Dining help!

Whoa, I am so happy I found you guys, took me long enough to really getting around to planning my trip.
Well from what I have been reading here today, it seems like I may be out of luck in finding anywhere good to eat. I am actually leaving for Disney this Friday morning and this is our first trip there. Its just me and my girlfriend. We will be staying at Coronado Springs, and got a 4 day magic your way pass, so we will be going to each of the four main parks a day. Anyways, I was here just reading up on Disney and realize that I actually should have made advance dining for the restaurants. Of course, we have never been there before, so we would have no idea what to do and where to eat. You guys have any suggestion of any last minute place that may not be totally booked by now and that we would actually find okay food while on our trip. By the way we do have the dining plan, and we will be there until the 28th. Thanks for any suggestions!!

It's never to late to try! Go to www.allears.net and check out some of the restaurants-menus, too! Then give Disney a call. Who knows?! Since it is only the two of you you just might get an ADR or two! People cancel all the time!Good luck! And have a magical adventure!

Non-character breakfasts, lunches, and meals at less-popular resort restaurants should be very doable. I'd still call now for some ADRs, though.

if you are willing to eat at "off" times, you should still be okay... yes, the restaurants are crowded, but it's not impossible to get a decent meal...

if i were you, i would try now, from home to make some reservations... if that fails, try again from your resort room... according to someone "in the know" the phone is answered separately and oftentimes you can get an adr from w/in that you cannot get from the outside... the other suggestion is that the resort restaurants are typically easier to get into than the park restaurants (w/some exception)...

for the four main parks, i would try the following:
from MK, try Kona Cafe at the Poly Resort
from MGM, try Mama Melrose (it was relatively empty when we went for a 5pm dinner 'cause it was parade time!)
from Epcot, try Nine Dragons (if you like Chinese food) or Restaurant Marakesh (for Moroccan food) or San Angel Cafe (for Mexican)...
from AK, you could try any of the resort restaurants... Boma at AKL is excellent (but popular!)... Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside is well worth the trip, especially if you are going to spend some time at DTD, as there is a boat between the two...

be assured, you are not doomed to hamburgers and hot dogs just 'cause you did not plan 90 days in advance... and ENJOY!

Great advice guys, thank yu so much. Getting off work within the hour, so I will call Disney as soon as I am home to see what they have!

Not interested in character dining etc. Just want to make sure we will be able to eat some really good food at somewhere nice. I am not a fan of breakfast, so grabbing anything at my resort will be fine, I was more looking for dinner reservations. I will let you guys know what I come up with. Thanks again, and if there is anymore advice keep em coming!!

Our favorite restaurant @ Magic Kingdom is The Plaza. You should be able to get in there OK for most times

Animal Kingdom you should be able to get into Rainforest Cafe as they do not go by the ADR system...very good food and drink for adults with no kids (MUST have the Margarilla..it's an Orange Margarita and is WONDERFUL!!)

Epcot you should get an ADR @ any restaurant in the World Showcase..I would recommend Germany or Japan (should be easier to get ADR's and food is very good) Also call the morning before you leave and ask for availability at other WS TS.

At MGM You should be able to get an ADR @ Mama Melrose's (italian) or 50's Prime time.

When you call Dining, don't give times, just days and let them tell you what is available. good luck!!

My advice would be to call ASAP to see what's available and then when you check into your resort, as at Guest services every day to see what they can find. People always cancel.

At Animal Kingdom, we actually like the counter service restaurants best. I recommend Flame Tree Barbecue and Tusker House, for lunch or dinner. Yum!

I second the suggestion of Kona Cafe at the Poly for a table service dinner. It's a quick monorail trip from the Magic Kingdom. On the plan, it's a great deal and the food is fabulous. I had the crab cakes, filet mignon and the macadmia tart. Again, yum!

The Rose and Crown in Epcot is on the plan and good. Biergarten is fun and the food is good too. The American Pavillion is good for counter service.

We have not had much luck with food at MGM. The ABC Commissary should be avoided. Now that I think about it, we did like Sci-Fi alot. Hollywood and Vine was okay for a buffet, not great, but not bad either.

Another place to try would be LIberty Tree Tavern in MK. It is a character meal (not a buffet). But can be fun even for adults! If you don't mind eating later you might be able to get in. Most families prefer to eat earlier.
The food there is all you can eat and it's good simple food. Turkey, Ham, roast beef (I think), mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, mac and cheese, a vegetable and rolls. Oh yeah dessert too! Whatever you decide have fun!

Thanks again for all your help guys, I was able to make reservation for all the restaurants I wanted, used mostly the suggestions from you guys also!!
