Dining help! So overwhelmed

I Have changed my plans more than I havent with a little less than 120 days to go!!!
I'd suggest trying to get at least 1 ADR per day for now and it will start to help you to piece together a schedule.
Getan ADR for CRT and any other MUSTS! Are you on the disney dining plan? I would also suggest a Be Our Guest ADR too since the are extremely hard to get later! With 2 girls at 4.5 I see your schedule as something like this:
Tues- MK day- CRT or BOG
Wed- AK day- Tusker House late breakfast
Thurs- Epcot- Akershus
Fri-- HS day- Early Lunch at SciFi or 50s
Sat- MK day- CRT or BOG (whichever one you couldn't get on 1st day)
Hope that helps!!!!!

Character meals I’d recommend:
Cinderella's Royal Table (any meal time)
Crystal Palace (any meal time)
Chef Mickey’s (any meal time)
Hollywood & Vine (lunch or dinner)
Trattoria (breakfast)

I like doing a couple late breakfasts for character meals then doing an early dinner later that day. Crystal Palace had the best food out of those listed. The others you’re just going for the characters honestly but food is ok.

I wouldn’t recommend ‘Ohana unless your girls just love Lilo & Stitch. Worst breakfast we had at Disney, although the characters were fun.

Non character meals I’d recommend-
Be Our Guest (lunch)
Sci Fi Dine In (lunch or dinner)
The Plaza (lunch or dinner)
Rainforest Cafe (lunch or dinner)

I would stick to one table service meal a day and plan to do quick service for other meals. That way you aren’t tied down with reservations.

Hi Sue, I just wanted to say that planning a WDW trip is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Some of us, once we've gone a few times, find it fun to choose and reserve restaurants. But if you don't at this point enjoy it, you don't have to do it. You can look around while you're there, and there will be quick service places, and some of the table service places will have availability even last minute. Some won't, but if nothing besides CRT jumps out at you now as a place you must do, then you probably won't be too bothered if that other place isn't available. If you aren't enjoying booking restaurants in advance, it's not necessary, and not worth getting overwhelmed. WDW should be an escape from stresses, rather than being another stressor. You could book CRT and play the rest by ear.

Hi everyone,
we are going to Disney in February with my inlaws and my 4.5 year old twin girls. I need to make my dining picks tomorrow and am so completely overwhelmed. I know we want to do CRT but that is it. I don't have a clue what else to do! I have spent a ton of time researching but am awful at making decisions. We get in on a Monday early afternoon and leave Saturday. We will have a 5 day park hopper. What other restaurants would you guys do? Should I book breakfast and dinner? On some sites it says most kids can't handle both. I think mine can?

As you can tell, I am awful at this. I don't even know what days we will go to each park. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I wish we had a bit more information, however I will try to help too.

At that age my DGD loved the character meals, so we booked them for her. Our arrival night was at Chef Mickey. SHe was enchanted with teh traditional characters ne it was a good way to introduce her to disney.

We also took her to Crystal Palace to meet Pooh had the Gang We booked dinner on that trip because we really did not want too many breakfast commitments.

I would consider Garden Grill in Epcot if the kids like Chip and Dale. Fun character interaction, and the food is All you care to eat, not buffet, so there is not need to leave the table. The interaction is very relaxed.

For Princess interaction my family still likes Akershus for Breakfast. You are dining in a Castle in Epcot, and it is a nice place to know you are going to meet Belle in her beautiful gown.

If you want to get into Beast's castle in MK, book Be Our Guest for breakfast or lunch. It is counter service and less money than dinner. You do nto meet Beast during those hours, however teh Castle is pretty impressive for adults, and kids love it as well.

I am not fond of Tusker House in ANimal Kingdom, however my family is in the minority. Most people love it and you willhave a chance to meet the traditional DIsney characters there.

In Disney Hollywood Studios Hollywood and VIne has Playhouse Disney characters for breakfast.

I just booked a last minute trip and, honestly, except for one or two places, I could have walked into anything with a party of 5. I will also echo that eating a lot of food was problematic for us this year. Mainly due to the heat. But we are all a little bit older now and can't pack food in like we used to. But I will say that my 23 y/o son was miserable the last two evenings we were there from trying to do a lot of eating each and every day. So, my first tip is RELAX about it.

But with kids the age of yours, certain things will be important. Do they LOVE characters? We did a lot of character dining when my kids were that age, but not too much. Sometimes the kids were actually scared of the characters. Sometimes, after a few character meals they were over it and tired of it. It's really all up to your kids' personalities.

Personally, I like to map out my park days first and then adjust my dining around those days. I don't knw whether you will have a car or not but you want to make sure that you don't have to leave a park to early to allow for transportation to some other dining spot that is the farthest away from where you are. I generally try to stick to something like the day I'm at Epcot I dine in Epcot. The day I'm in the MK, I dine close to the MK and so on.

I just finished my stay at the Contemporary about 2 weeks ago. One day we did a walk up (party of 5) for The Wave's breakfast buffet. It's pretty good and very calm in there if you need a break from the characters or just don't want to travel far one day. You can also get a table service meal for breakfast if you don't eat a lot.

I always advocate for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review, especially for those with young children. It's a really fun meal for them, good basic food, and taking the boat over to the Ft. Wilderness and walking around is a nice way to let off steam. You could also do that your first night there because it's a quick boat ride from BLT and would be a nice kick off to the vacation.

Cape May Café over at the Beach Club is a nice character breakfast that is sure to also please the adults. The characters are in beach attire and it's nice seeing the other resorts. You can also entry into Epcot via walking from there after your breakfast.

Thank you all so much for your help. This makes me feel much better and I look forward to planning it now. My kids will like the princess breakfasts. I think we will try Chef Mickeys but they might be a bit scared.

The other problem is that I am not really supposed to do buffets and I know a lot of restaurants do them. I have Cystic Fibrosis and it’s a germ thing. Speaking of, we will have to leave the parks by 2 everyday so I can get back to the hotel to do treatments. Is it worth it to go back for dinner or should I look more for lunches? I don’t plan on keeping the girls out past 8

With that scenario, I'd look for dinner restaurants close to wherever I'm staying. Dining in a hotel restaurant would be a little easier than going back into the parks just for a meal.

I just saw that Chef Mickeys is a buffet for dinner. I think we will either do that the first night or the Hoop de Revue. So basically either what would be better for the kids (Chef Mickey) or better for me (hoop). Decisions, decisions

Will you have a vehicle with you??? Or disney transportation? I would schedule around 10am time for meals.. that way if you dont want to get up too early you dont have to.. or if you want to get up early you can do some rides and then eat! Dinners you can schedule in and around the hotel most likely day before or day of. That way you can enjoy the day in the park, get back around 2 for naps/meds, then can have dinner around 5 or 6 and bedtime by 8(ish)

I'd go for Hoop Dee Do. You all will love it. Then throw in a breakfast character one day and be done with it. Spend the rest of your time away from buffets so you can keep the germ level down. I view Chef Mickey's as a germ fest.

I have spent a ton of time researching but am awful at making decisions.
I know I am a day late but there is plenty of time to still make reservations. I feel it is often best not to do breakfast reservations because that can interfere with taking advantage of rope drop, unless it is a pre-park opening breakfast - RD is a great way to get you on many rides with very low waits. With that you can do QS at your resort or just quick things in the room (cereal & milk). Booking an early lunch around 11:00 is a good time to take a break -- some good options would be:

MK - Crystal Palace (Pooh characters), if you don't want characters the Liberty Tree is amazing
HS - best TS is Brown Derby
Epcot -- there are too many options, but if princesses are a must and you didn't get CRT then Akershus is an option. A pre-park opening (8am reservation) can get you quick access to the Frozen ride. Garden grill is a nice character meal
AK - Tusker is another great character meal which also has amazing food. I believe this is one of the restaurants that has the Rivers of light dining package available.

The best thing you can do is book what you think you want ( you can book more than one TS reservations as long as they are more than an hour and 15 minutes apart. So if you don't know what park you want to be at on Monday but it could be Epcot or MK then book a lunch at each one. Once you get your reservations then start to weed through what you don't want and formalize your plan based on park hours, crowd predictions. You must cancel reservations before 11:59pm the night before otherwise you will be charged if you don't show up. So you can have some flexibility if you happen to book something and are not totally sure want it. But for the kindness of others do cancel what you don't want as soon as you figure it out.

I've heard good things about Chef Mickey's for breakfast and O'hana for dinner. We've been to Be Our Guest for dinner, which was really cool. They recently changed their menu though, so I'm not sure how it is now. We've also done Tusker House for a character breakfast if you happen to be in Animal Kingdom. All of our reservations were done about a month or two out, and we lucked up on quite a few. Don't feel super stressed or rushed, you will still be able to find something. Have fun!

Any of the character meals the kids will love. Just pick a location that is convenient for your daily plans. A brunch/lunch at Chef Mickeys is great during a MK day.

Lunch at Be Our Guest is great for the experience. Dinner is expensive (and new).

Disney Springs, if you're there, has Rainforest/Trex and Wolfgang Puck Express is great food for a low dollar cost.

Some things on my bucket list are Hoop Dee Doo Review and Ohanas.

Your medical needs change some of my suggestions. YOu can book character meals that are AYCTE *All you care to eat) The food is served family style at your table. You can also ask that your food be plated separately if need be. I do believe the chef woudl help you with this in a buffet as well, however you have several nice choices anyway.

Garden Grill: Features Farmer Chipmunks and Mickey. I think Pluto, however I cannot remember for sure. All three meals are family style.

Akershus Princess Storeybook breakfast is family style as well. It is good, and the interaction is really good.

CRT in the Magic Kingdom is a plated Princess meal. It is pricy, but little girls seem to love it. I prefer Akershus, however that Castel setting is pretty impressive.

'Ohana beakfast at the Polynesian is fun as well, also AYCTE. It feature Lilo and Stitch, Mickey and Pluto.

Under your particular circumstances I wodul try for a Pre Park opening breakfast in Epcot or MK if possible if you want to have a character meal. Stay in the parks til after a CS lunch and then hit the road to go back to your resort. We do nto find leaving early a problem, we always do this. WE relax at the resort, swim or take a nap, and then back out for dinner. How you handle dinner is your preference, because you could always go back to a park for dinner and evening entertainment or a last few attractions after dinner, or you could use that time to explore other areas in WDW. We will often go to a different resort for dinner, explore the shops, etc. Personally, I think Disney is more than parks.

Start with the schedule that works for you. Park days, and times that you can handle. Then choose your meals. REmember that Disney Chefs go above and beyond to help any food borne issues, so if you choose a buffet, I bet your will not need to use the buffet, however I cannot say for sure. Head over to the DISabilities forum. Those folks are a fountain of information and tips to make a trip less challenging for those who have specific needs.

The last thing I want to add is that you do not need to stress. You and the family could go without one meal booked and you woudl have a great time. You choose how you tour, and know that it will be okay.

Thank you all again so very much. I think I get so nervous because I really want this to be a special trip, which it will be no matter what I know. Here is what I am thinking

Monday (day of arrival)
Hoop dee doo revue

Tuesday (Magic Kingdom)
CRT breakfast
QS lunch
QS dinner at hotel
Dessert Party at MK

Wednesday (Animal Kingdom)
Tusker House breakfast OR just breakfast in room
QS lunch
Liberty Tree Dinner?? Or maybe a monorail hotel dinner?

Thursday (Epcot)
Breakfast in room
QS lunch
Via Napoli dinner

Friday (HS)
The Wave breakfast
QS dinner
California Grill

I would love to get a date night at the mexican restaurant to watch the fireworks at Epcot but I don't know if we will be able to. Also, is Illuminations closing anyway?

Sounds pretty good. You do have park hoppers, right, so you can hit Liberty Tree on your Animal Kingdom day?

You do not need to have dinner to enjoy Illuminations. We have watched it after dinner at Via Napoli on several occasions. ALl the fretting about location that I have put my family through, and then we walk out a little bit and see the whole show! I do like seeing it from Mexico, however I have never sat for it.

If you can plan a date night I would plan dinner wherever you like, and then after dinner find a cocktail to enjoy while waiting for the show. As much as a romantic dinner sounds lovely, I think that strolling through the World Showcase after dark is such a nice way to end a DIsney day.
