We returned last night from a long week of eating, I mean, um visiting Mickey! Don't have any totals, lets just suffice to say that we ate ALOT and it was WAY more than the package would have been (we were on the free promo). Our service was very good all week, no real complaints and we got lots of refills in a timely manner! We paid for DS's and used the credits for us. DD is under age so we either paid or shared w/ her.
Every place was packed, glad we had our AR's!
Sat the 1st...Chef Mickey's dinner...good, not great, but we did enjoy the food. After reading all the bad here, I was nervous, but we were satisfied. Character interaction was good.
Sun, 2nd, MK all day...lunch was at Cosmic Ray's, it was fine, nothing special, we got burgers. Dinner was at LTT, we loved it! The only food that was not good was the ham, it was dry, but everything else was very tasty. The character's were great too, spaced out well in there visiting intervals. We'd do this again.
Monday, 3rd, Animal Kingdom day, Epcot night...We ate at Tusker House for lunch, it was good, I had the wrap, didn't care for it, but the quality was fine, it was just not what I wanted. The corn chowder was very good that it came with. DH got the Rotiserrie chicken plate, he really liked it. We would eat here again. I did see the bill on this one, for 2 adults and 2 kids it was $50 (free to us!)
That night we at in Canada at Le Cellier. It did not disappoint! The wait was long and it was a LONG dinner. Our waitress was very chatty and attentive (until the end, she disappeared, but I still complimented her to the manager). The pretzel breadsticks were great, DH preferred the grainy ones, but the pretzels were for me! Got the cheese soup, good, but a little too much beer taste for me, DH got the kabob appie, he liked it. We both got fillets, DH the one w/ the mashed potatoes, and I got the mushroom risotto one. Mine was terrific. DH is more of a potato eater and I'm more of a rice eater, so we picked them perfectly. YUMMY! We got the cobbler and the chocolate cake for dessert (w/ the orange sauce). Very good. DS got the burger and the choc. mousse. DD put her head down and slept the entire dinner..cheap date! This was very good, we would definitely eat here again if on the dining plan, prob. not if we were paying out of pocket...too expensive on an expensive trip. Saw Illuminations afterwards, it was terrific!
Tues. the 4th..MGM day and Epcot night...Sci Fi lunch, so we could say we did, and never will again...DH got a burger and I got the spinach dip. We paid OOP for this one since we didn't eat a ton for lunch. Nothing horrible about it, just wasn't great. I can say we've done it now. Service was fine, kids were entertained. We had a 3 row car and had to sit w/a random couple in the back. Didn't care for that.
Dinner was at the Biergarten and it was fun. We enjoyed our tablemates alot, they were very nice. Food was good, nothing "great", but it was good. The music was fun, DS went down to dance and had fun. We'd eat here again.
Wed. the 5th..Typhoon Lagoon day and Hoop De Doo night...The CS at TL was fine, nothign memorable to write, it was fine to eat though.
Hoop De Doo was TERRIFIC. I'm so glad we did this. We enjoyed every min. of it. The food was good too, the salad was good, the fried chicken was very good, the ribs were okay, but DH liked them. The bread was good as was the corn on the cob and beans. The strawberry shortcake was good, too much strawberry's for me, butthey aren't my favorite. I tried some sangria, but it wasn't very fruity, more strong red wine, so I stuck w/ my tea!Since it's expensive and we've seen it once (for free at that), we'd probably not do it again, but I highly recommend it.
Thursday the 6th...day off DDD shopping/lunch and then O'hana's before MNSSHP...lunch at Earl of Sandwich. I had the original maybe? Roastbeef, cheddar and horseradish sauce, very good. DH had the meatball one. DS had grilled cheese and DD PB&J. The kids' were too fancy for them, the bread is great, but it's hard for a little kid to eat, plus they were big. Had I known, they would have easliy shared. We liked it, but you only got the sandwich and a drink and a cookie. I would have liked a bag of chips instead of a cookie. Tasty sandwich though..I'd eat here again, don't think DH would, not enough food for him.
O'hana's dinner...good, got seated first in the whole place for dinner and they put us in a great spot IF we were there at night to see Wishes, in the back by the window looking at the castle. But since it was 5pm, we would have like to be up in the front by the pit...somethign for the kids to watch. Had I realized where we were going, I'd have requested a different table. The server was nice, a 50ish lady who was very nice and attentive. She was great w/ the kids. Food was okay, the chips were fine, nothing special. Salad needed more dressing for me. Potatoes were great! Shrimp and wings were good, messy, but good. Would have been nice to not have to peel the shrimp. The meat was good, I feel like I didn't eat very much, the pieces were big and we'd already eaten alot! The only meat I didn't care for was the turkey and sausage. I love sausage, just not when paired w/ the beef and pork, both were really good. The bread pudding was terrific and was worth saving room for. Overall, it was good, probably would not do it again. DS was looking forward to the hula hoop and coconut races, neither of which happened in the hour we were there. We took our time though, it was raining and we were heading over to the Halloween party.
Friday the 7th...DDD again and WCC for dinner...We ended up at DDD Disney for lunch, this time at Wolfgang Puck's Express. I ordered the bbq chicken pizza but she rang up pepperoni. Didn't know this until it came and I looked at the receipt. Oh well, it was good! DH got the same (except he actually ordered the pepperoni). Good pizza, gobbled it right up. Kids both got mac and cheese, it was good mac and cheese, the real kind.
Dinner was WCC, we got there early and was seated very quickly, nice b/c they were booked solid. They tried to put us in the back corner, but I asked for a table out in the middle. Glad I did. The place is FULL of action. The ketchup thing did get a little annoying b/c either they didn't have many bottles out floating around, or people weren't participating. I decided to just get the milkshake and had some of the nacho apps. I drank a vanilla and choc. one, both were good...slurped those down and called it dinner! DH got the plate of ribs, not on the menu, but the waiter (Raging Bull aka Ralph) offered it to him. He really liked them. The kids had hot dogs. For dessert DH got the apple pie. They liked it, can't say as I had any, I drank my dinner and dessert!
Not sure if we'd do it again, but it was good. I'd recommend it.
Sat. the 8th, last day. We went to the Magic Kingdom just to eat at the Crystal Palace and say goodbye. I really wanted DD to eat w/ Pooh and his friends. We were looking forward to this meal. The meal did not disappoint. The breakfast food was very good. LOVED the cheesy hashbrowns, the breakfast pizza (couldn't do the lasagna, didn't look appetizing), and the puffy french toast was great. We all enjoyed the food. The waitress was great. Piglet was out in the center so we went up and saw him. Other than that, we didn't see a character for 1 hour and 5 min. Tigger came over to our room for a little bit, but bounced back to the other side before doing the room. I felt like I was being obnoxious after asking about the char. so many times, so I finally inlisted my son to ask. They kept assuring me they were coming and had a route. It was now about 11am and the rest. was not that full, pleny of empty tables and we still hadn't seen anyone on our side. If I had been wasting park time there I would have been really mad, but since it was our last few hours and we'd actually had some Fast passes we got from seeing the DVC presentation, we werent' that impatient. I felt bad for the waitress, b/c there were others camping out like us and it made for less table turnover/tips for her. I said as such to her and she blew it off, said she was more concerned about my kids getting what they came to see. Nice answer, but I'm sure it's frustrating. Pooh finally came to our side, got w/in 3 tables of us and then was off to do a bday parade and then went back to the inner loop tables, totally wrong place. Our waitress went over to him and firmly pulled him back to his correct table. In the end, we saw Pooh and we didn't wait anymore for Eeyore and Tigger. I did nicely talk to the manager, he said I was the 1st char. complaint that day...huh? Guess no one around us said anything, b/c there were alot of us grumbing! One grandma tried to commando Pooh, but Pooh refused to follow her (that was as he was on his way to our table!). I was nice, told him a few times how attentive and helpful our waitress was but that we weren't sure if we'd be back, we'd waited an hour and 10 min. and saw Pooh just then. He offered me a fastpass to see the char. in Toontown, great if we were spendign the day there, I declined and he insisted on something, so finally wrote us a family fastpass for any ride in the park. All in all, lovely place, good food, bad char. interaction. I think the kids would have to beg hard to do this one again over LTT in the MK.
Final thoughts: the meal plan was a great deal for us (even though it was free, it still would have been well worth the price had we paid). We would definitly do it again. The only part I didn't care for was all the desserts. There were only so many cookies and cakes we could eat after lunch AND dinner. We should have just declined them. It was pure gluttony and we didnt' eat many of them.
Any questions?
