Dining for large group

I'm talking about doing a table service restaurant with a group of 35-40 people. Someone I know is trying to arrange this while at a meet at WDW. I've done the research and know that you have to speak with group dining and a credit card is required for no shows.

Has anyone ever experienced this with a group this size? I know from reading the boards that with smaller "large" groups, that they seat you in the restaurant and if your group is too large, attempt to seat you near each other. Is this the same with much larger groups, since obviously there aren't tables for 40ish people? Thanks for any help!!

I helped arrange a dinner with 60+ for my sister's wedding dinner at WCC. I had to call and speak to the restaurant manager, who gave me a time when they could accomodate us. It was later in the evening, which was fine. My Dad picked up the tab, so they only used one cc. I did not have to leave a credit card number when I booked, but that's been a couple of years ago.

What you need to do is talk directly to the restaurant's "Area" (General) Manager. Normally you will either be set as first group in (within 20 minutes of opening) or late in the evening. YOu will be placed in one area together.
A group I belong to has done this in recent years with 40 or so people at Chef Mickey's, Boma, and Trails End.

We have found that it is best to do this at a buffet type loction. The meals were all on one bill, if anyone wanted alcoholic beverages or other extra-cost items they were billed separately for those items.

The most we have had were 35 at Ohana's & 20 at AP......the area manager is who we did have to speak to but both times we had great experiences.

Yeah, I was just thinking that Bomas has a lot of large tables there. As mentioned, this would work best if you came right at opening time. Having been a server before, having such a large party on ONE CHECK would be a huge help for the servers.
