Dining during MVMCP

Considering a reservation at Crystal Palace or Be our Guest (assuming the later opens, very unlikely) around 6:00pm for our day at MVMCP. Two questions (1) would you do a sit down or a quick service at the beginning of the MVMCP and (2) will Pooh and Friends be at CP during our reservation? The website says that character dining may be changed or cancelled. Anyone have experience with this? We've never done MVMCP and are excited about it but I have a 2yo and concerned we should maximize our party time in the beginning while she is awake, and thus considering QS instead of ADR. Thanks!

We have a two year old as well who went to MVMCP right at the 23 month mark. For us personally we didn't want to do anything that cut into the party time so we did QS right when we got there at Cosmic Rays. There are a lot of free treats to eat so filling up at the buffet may prevent you from enjoying a big party of the party. Also for us, since we had two littles with us, we didn't ride any rides and focused solely on the party aspect. We left about 9:45 right after the first parade. Both kids were asleep in the stroller before we made it back to the Poly.

Thank you! That's kind of what we are thinking. Our park day has EMH in the morning at MK so we plan to be there bright and early for a bunch of rides and then back to the hotel for a nap in mid afternoon. We plan to be back in the park around 5/6pm and rolling until we are too tired (or cranky), hopefully at least 10pm or so. The other adults in our party will probably stay til midnight! It's our last park day and we want to make the most of it :earsboy:

The disclaimer regarding characters is for all character meals. While there is seldom a glitch meeting a character that is promised at any meal, Disney wants you to know that they are never guaranteed. At CP, Pooh and friend will be there unless there is a major upheaval.

In terms of dining, for my family 5 PM is the cutoff for any TS meal before a party. If I cannot schedule an ADR around 5 I skip TS and we grab a CS meal. WE do not want to waste good party time eating.

You can always expect the characters to be there unless there is some major issue and even then they usually just swap out a character.
They just have to warn you to cover their butts.

I would not do a sit down dinner if attending the party.
I'd take full advantage of that time.
I enjoy doing a TS lunch outside of the park and then a QS during the party.

We always do TS around 5:30 pm on party nights. MK gets quite crowded between 4-6 pm as party guests enter and day guests try to make the most out of MK before it closes. A 5:30 pm ADR gets us out of the crowds and back into the park as soon as the party starts.

The parties are expensive. Spending an hour or more of prime party time at a ts meal is a time waster for many.

Yep. It would be different if there were "special" characters there who weren't available at regular meal times. But, that's not the case. I would make a reservation for CP during a non-party time if seeing the Pooh characters are important.

We do one of two things:
- Eat around 2:00pm at the resort or parks we are coming from before heading to MK for MVMCP, so that we can still be at MK by 4:00pm.
- Arrive early to MK to eat there prior to 4:00pm
