I am looking for some information regarding the Disney Dining Discount Plan. We are APs so we get the plan at a discount but I was wondering if it works out to be a good deal, since you have to pay to become a member of the plan.

We will be there for 6 days and will most likely eat 2 sit down meals a day, possibly 3 on some days. I expect to do a lot of character meals (possibly 1 per day). I have an almost 3 year old (she'll be eating free according to CRO) and then my husband and I.

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

First, pull the list of restaurants that give the discount. Then look at the menus at www.allearsnet.com and get a rough idea of what you will spend. Take 20% off the bill (before taxes) and add it up. Make sure you are saving atleast the $50 the DDE costs you. If not, just take the 10% AP discount and call it good.

Isn't the 10% AP discount available only for lunch, and at a much smaller list of restaurants? DDE's 20% discount is available at most table service restaurants and at a few counter service places and some lounges. And, the discount applies to alcoholic beverages as well as food. Given what Disney restaurants charge for a glass of wine, the 20% discount on alcohol helps a lot to keep dining costs down.

It looks like it might be close... Math was never my strong suit, looks like it might be worth it.

Has anyone used this program yet?

Thanks for any advice!

Yes, I used the DDE in April. It was very easy to use -- had no problems with any CMs not being able to apply the discount.

We were able to save 20% off the POFQ food court, every sit-down meal we ate in the parks including the Crystal Palace character dinner (saved over $10 right there), Tusker House in AK, and Boatwrights at POR.

In six days, my family (DH, DS3.5, DD1 who didn't order much, and I) saved $75, so a total savings of $25 after paying for the card. Since we'll be back to WDW for two more trips before the card expires, we'll be able to save quite a bit of money!

Hello again!

Can anyone tell me if the card is transferrable? Our annual passes expire at the end of September, so I'm not sure if I am going again. (I am trying to plan a Grand Gathering for Dec!) We are not renewing our APs this year because we are planning to add to our family... I am soo close to buying the dining discount card but would definitely do it if I could pass it on to another family to share the cost.

How does the plan work? Is your name on the card? Do they check ids?

Thanks!

I bought this with my AP discount on our last trip (2 adults 1 child) I think it paid for itself on our third meal. We are big fans of character dining and sit down dining. YOU will probably save money with it if you are using it 2 times a day! Have fun! Oh, we did have to show ID, you may not be able to share it, especially if not paying with cash.

We just got back with a group of 21. We participated in the Disney YES Programs and bought each person 2 meals per day. The voucher cost including tax was 10.50 per meal. I don't think anyone ate a meal that was 10.50. Most of our meals ran 14.00-16.00. It was money well spent. I don't know if individuals can purchase the vouchers without being part of a group, but this plan was fantastic. The only down side - is, it is limited to specific places that you can eat - but we found places everywhere that took the coupons. :flower:

I would love to hear more about the YES programs & the vouchers. We have a group going in January. Any specifics about the programs, where the coupons are valid, etc. would be very helpful. You can send me a PM to fill me in on the details :)
