13th-
Wilderness Lodge Cafe (dinner)
14th-
Sci Fi (lunch)
Grand Floridian Cafe (dinner)
15th-
LTT (lunch)
Crystal Palace (dinner)
16th-
Counter svc- Hotdogs & Noodle station MK (lunch)
Olivia's (Dinner)
Attendees: me (mid-30's somewhat picky eater) and ds (who turned 5 on the 16th and is allergic to dairy, eggs, all nuts, and shellfish).
Because we are dealing with multiple food allergies, we ate breakfast in the room and booked mostly sit down meals. All of the chefs were fantastic in regard to the FA issue, and we were seated promptly everywhere.
The food was excellent everywhere except for the Noodle station at MK. It was much too salty- I should have asked for a refund as it was barely edible.
Service was outstanding at Olivia's. I wish I had booked it for more than one meal- the chef was out at our table multiple times, and our server brought items out from the back so that I could read the ingredient lists. The one thing that stood out for me was that it took about 20min to prepare our food at nearly every restaurant. Trying to have a 5yo sit for 20min when he's hungry is not an easy task. Needless to say I was thrilled that at Olivia's our wait for our meal was only 10min!
Our server was just as attentive at Grand Floridian Cafe- the meal took a little longer to prepare than Olivia's but she kept stopping by to chat with ds which helped.
I would definitely return to both of those again, and will book Olivia's as our first stop instead of our last!
Also, I love dessert- I had cheesecake at both places- lemon with raspberry & mango sauce at GF, and guava cheesecake at Olivia's. They were delicious!
Sci Fi was fun, food was fine (burgers & fries). The chef even brought out a flashlight so that I could read the ingredient list since it was so dark in there.
Crystal Palace was a fun kid expereince for ds. The chef made a plate for him that was not off of the line out front. They also had cake in the back that he was able to eat- that was a big thrill for ds!
We were forgotten about by the wait staff at Whispering Canyon and LTT. At WCC we were seated next to a party of twenty. Both tables were basically finished with the meals at the same time. The server settled their bill and then disappeared! After 10min of having him nowhere in sight, I flagged down someone to get our check. He never came back to even offer dessert, coffee, etc. Side note is that at Olivia's we sat next to a party of 25 and were never an afterthought.
We had a similar experience at LTT. The server never came back to our table- I flagged him down a good 10min after we were finished to get our check. They had a "test menu" at LTT for kids through the 18th with things like mahi-mahi, grilled tofu, etc, instead of the standard mac-n-cheese, burgers, etc. I have the menu at home- will post it tomorrow.
All in all, we had a fantastic trip. It was the first time EVER that ds was able to eat in a restaurant, and our first vacation where I didn't have to drag a cooler full of food along. Other than the two servers, the service was top notch!
