Hi, We'll be going on our first WDW trip in September. I am beyond excited and having a blast getting my ADR's figured out. I will be calling to make them this week. We will be on the Dining Plan. We are staying at the Poly and don't want to rent a car- our kids will be 3 1/2 and 18 mos. and we want to use the great Disney Monorail and transport system. I know we can easily get to the GF, Contemporary, MK and Epcot by Monorail, and to the AK and HS by bus, but can I get to the other resorts for their dining options? If so, how do we do it and how long would the travel take? Any reccomendations? It would be much appreciated. Thanks, Patty

Yes you absolutely can get to the other resorts to eat. It depends on which resort you want to go to. For example, Yacht and Beach club, you can take the monorail to Epcot, walk to the international gateway and then take the boat to YaBC. I'm sure there is a better way to do that though. OR you can hop on a bus from one of the parks to get to the resort you want.

As they say for everything you should give yourself about an hour to get anywhere.

you can get to any other Disney resort by going to any open park or Downtown Disney and then transferring to the resort you want to go to either by bus or boat without actually entering a park and using a ticket.

AS you are staying at the Poly-you are right next door to the ticket and transportation center which can get you were you want to go. Also if you take the monorail to MK-I believe the bus stops to the other hotels are to the left when you leave. We always have a car because I hate to wait for a bus.

Good luck and enjoy,

Linda

There are also taxis at your disposal as well if you're running late or had a particularly long day.

Congratulations, you are at the absolute best resort for transportation. As the PP said, there is a well marked trail for the short walk to the TTC. From there you can get a bus to all of the resorts and parks. That being said, if you want to go somewhere for an early breakfast or late dinner, you can get there really fast on the monorail.

The beauty of staying on site is that you can go anywhere you want to!
The only flaw when using the buses is that you can't go from one resort to another, you have to take a bus from any park to a resort, which really isn't that big a deal. That being said, you really wouldn't have to go to another resort if you didn't want to because you have access to almost all of the best places to eat right at your finger tips with the Monorail!

MK-Crystal Palace, great character dinning for the babies, get your ressies for first seating for breakfast 8:05 a.m. that way you can get pics with your family infront of the Castle without all the people around! :cool1: Not to mention you'll have all of Main St. to yourself (well almost) when you come in, it's a really special feeling to be in there with almost no one around. Also your in the park and ready to go once your done, as long as your not fooling around with your time, head straight over to fantasy land and your all set, gotta ride Dumbo first! You should be able to get through that part of the park before it gets crowded if your there when the rides open!

Poly~ You've got Ohana's character dinning, lilo and stitch if that's your thing, otherwise I would eat at Kona's Cafe, they have the tonga toast, suppose to be to die for, and the pancakes, yum, yum! Oh! I forgot to tell you about Ohana's for dinner, should be a wonderful treat! Check out the menu to see if the babies will eat what you all get there.

Epcot~Coral Reef, very cool for the bigger people, don't know if the 3 yr. old will appreciate the aquarium. Very yum!
Le Cellier~ In Canada is suppose to be out of this world for steak, and cheese soup!, again more of a place for mom and dad, in other words not much entertainment value for babies.
Akershus~ In Norway has a princess breakfast, beautiful setting, but more importantly if your 3 yr. old is a princess also, this would be a major plus for whom ever is planning. Major brownie points here! Really only OK for breakfast, I hear.

Contemporary Hotel~ Is a must for Chef Mickey's the babies will LOVE this! And if your a Mickey fan or the Fav. Five are your favorites then this is the place to be. It's on the fourth floor of the hotel. Supposed to be good for breakfast or dinner! Very popular.

Grand Floridian~ My Fav of all favs! I love everything about this place, from the atmosphere to the characters and especially the food. I love the choices, I love the laid back feeling of being here, and I love the Resort! This is my kind of place! For us this was the best suprise of the whole trip, we weren't expecting this to be as great as it was. The characters are so great! You can't go wrong with breakfast or dinner. I would say that the time we went might have had a lot to do with it, we got the last two hours of the resturant being open for both ADR's (breakfast and dinner) so this is probably why it was so laid back, almost no body was there. For you that would probably be hard to do with precious little one's.

Bomas~ My only place I would tell you is soooo worth going out of your way to get on buses for! It's probably the best buffet in all of WDW for dinner. By far is worth going to!

We'll be at the Poly too. For what it's worth, these are our ADR's:

- Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary (we're doing dinner, the kids will love the ice cream sundae bar!)

- The Coral Reef in Epcot (one whole wall is an aquarium)

- Le Cellier in Epcot (for my son--he's a HUGE steak fan!)

- 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian (dinner w/ Cinderella & the step sisters)

- Hollywood & Vine (Fantasmic Dinner Package at HS)-- our only bus ressie. But the TTC is a 5 minute walk from the Poly, and it acts as a transportation hub, so it doesn't look like a big deal!

- 'Ohana at the Poly- it looks like such fun!!!

I made all early reservations-- somewhere around 5 pm. That way, if the kids are tired, we can call it an early night. If not, we can stay in the parks until we want to wind down. (I hate when they're tired and cranky at dinner!)

My grown up children still say after staying at all the resorts at one time or another that the Poly is their favorite.....

Monorail to either GF, or walk if you feel up to it along the lagoon, beautiful walk, monorail to Contemporary, lots of food choices there.. Head over to TTC and take a bus wherever else you want to be, you do not need the car just use Disney's transportation, just remember to allow enough time if you are travelling a distance..

Have a wonderful time.. Love the Poly...

Several people have mentioned going to the TTC to get to other resorts, DO NOT DO THIS. There are no resort buses at the TTC, only buses to AK, HS and offsite resorts. All Disney resort buses go to the MK not the TTC, since you are at the Poly it would be very easy to go to MK and transfer to a bus to any resort you want.
The suggestion to go to Epcot then walk to certain resorts is fine, but keep in mind that to do that will require you to enter Epcot, so you would need to use a valid ticket.
Any open park can be used as a transfer point to any Disney resort. If you are out past park hours you should use DTD as your transfer point.

You know I was thinking when I typed TTC.......that we never go there anymore. Years ago, when staying at the Poly, you could walk there to catch a bus.

So.....what buses are at TTC?? Just wondering as why do they even have it, maybe close it down? I know we were always under the impression...you cannot take a bus from resort to resort, that you always have to go to a park or downtown Disney to get a bus to a resort...

Does anyone know exactly which buses are at TTC??? And this is turning into a transportation thread, which is not what the OP wanted.. So can I just say, on the Monorail, each hotel connected has some great restaurants....Citrico's, Kona Cafe, O'Hana...I never eat at the Contemporary unless I am going to California Grill..

Resort restaurant dining can be found on this page.

Buses to DHS and AK are at the TTC. SOG bus too. There are also Lynx buses and private tour companies.

No buses to the other resorts or DTD although many years ago there were. In fact until just a few years ago, there was still a FW/WL bus route that made getting to the Hoop very easy from the Polynesian.

As HappyDznyCamper said:

No resort buses at TTC!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR IMPUT! It's all very helpful. Thanks too, fo r the detailed responses about the specific restaurants and tips for the kids-Fantastic! I'll make most of the ressies at places easy to get to, esp. with the 2 very little ones. I'll do Boma, though! Sounds great. :)
