Does Disneyland really charge the fee if you miss a reservation? I only just remembered that I had a reservation for Ariel’s Grotto for lunch tomorrow because I thought I might be in Disneyland this weekend but I wasn’t able to make the trip. I completely forgot about the reservation, but I just tried to cancel it on the app and it won’t let me. It says I’m too close to the reservation time to cancel. Have people really been charged when they’ve missed a reservation?

Call the DINE Line (714-781-DINE) first thing in the morning to cancel your reservation. There is a one time allowance per account where they will cancel your reservation within the 24 hour period without penalty. (More than one DINE Line CM has told me this, so I assume it is true.) That way, you won't be penalized and someone else can use your reservation.

I’d call but they did charge us. We had reservations for carnation cafe, but found great parade seats and the kids were asleep. At that point it was worth the fee not to move lol.

Call and ask if you can modify it to a different date, a couple days away. Then go online and cancel. I haven't tried this but have heard some on the WDW side say it works.

I'm a little confused though. I thought you had until close of business the night before to cancel. Is it really a solid 24 hours?

Ariel’s Grotto closes tomorrow to be rethemed as part of the Pixar pier project, that’s why the modify to a different date will not work.

Yes they charge you, no it is not a hard 24 hours. Call the day before and you are good...even day of early enough. While the letter of the law is 24 hours, the intent is to prevent no shows and as long as they have some notice they are often quite flexible and lenient on waving the charges.

If your reservation is for tomorrow, just call Disney Dine #

I tried to cancel my reservation in December. We were offered a reservation at Club 33, it was at night and I couldn't contact Disney Dining by phone, so I tried canceling through the app. although it was 23 hours and not 24. It said it canceled one of us (there were 2 in our party), then it wouldn't work, and then it said it canceled both and the next morning I got a cancelation confirmation in my email so thought it was good. When I got my cc statement, though, it had a $20 dining charge. I called and it took some time, but they did take it off. They wanted the info about my Club 33 res and I thought it was sort of a lot to go through but oh well; they did remove the charge. Had never canceled within the 24-hour period before.
