Okay, my family is returning to WDW in Jan. and this time we are bringing my mom and sister along. We did the DDP last year and loved it and hope to do it again this year.

My problem is my sister (33!) She is extremely picky and usually won't even try new things. So I have a few questions.

1) Do most buffets/restaurants offer by request a "normal" salad dressing? (Italian or Thousand Island only)

2) At Coral Reef can you get a baked potato?

3) At the Luau can you request anything different (bread/desert?) ?

4) Is there anywhere in the parks for a CS where you can get just a turkey sandwich/ sub (like subway)?

Thanks!!!!!! I don't want to listen to her whine more than my kids on this trip so I am planning ahead!!!

Coral Reef lists a baked potato as the side dish with the prime rib, so it should be available as a substitution without too much trouble.

As far as sub sandwiches go, it depends. Is she really finicky about what goes on it? The sandwiches at Sunshine Seasons at Epcot don't have the condiments on them (I like that) and they are very good. The great thing about Sunshine Seasons is the variety available, so the rest of you will probably find things you like as well. Pinocchio's in the MK also has a sub sandwich, and she may find a sandwich she would like at DTD at the Earl of Sandwich. If you have a car, the deli counter at the Publix grocery makes excellent sub sandwiches.

I have to admit there's only one salad dressing I like, so I usually don't get salad at Disney. Many restaurants have a vinagrette dressing available, but that's just not Italian to me. The closest I come to salads are when I can get one of the tomato/mozzarella "salads" with just a little oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.

I haven't been to the luau for quite a while, but I don't remember there being any substitutions available. That may have changed. It might be worth contacting them directly and asking about special meals, much as someone with a food allergy would.

1. You don't have to get the dressing that is on the menu for a particular salad. The restaurants will have other choices. If they didn't have a standard Ranch, my husband would never eat a salad at Disney World. Buffets will have the "normal" stuff. Even at Boma, the names might sound odd but my picky son loves the salads. He follows the advice I was given many years ago - combine a couple of the dressings.

2. If a baked potato is listed anywhere on the menu, you can get it. As with the salad dressings, you aren't limited to just what is printed on the menu as your side dish. Again, if my husband couldn't substitute for standard fries or rice or something, he wouldn't get any side dishes at Disney World.

3. Contact the Luau directly and ask what special meals are offered.

4. Check the menus on allears and look at the counter service options. Again, you don't have to get everything there. If you don't want condiments on the sandwich, they can keep them off.

As with everything at Disney World - just ask. It took my husband a well to get used to that but it was so easy at Disney World that now he requests special things at other places. For example, he ordered a steak and cheese sub at a pizza place (it was on the menu) and then asked for ketchup for the sandwich. Definitely not something that would be easily available at a pizza place. But the server went into the back and found a whole box of ketchup packets. All he did was ask.
