Dining At Ssr??????

From what I'm told they will only have a food court called Artist Pallete. You'll have to walk or take the boat to DTD for dining.

I don't know if there is any truth to what has been recently posted, but there were a couple of threads that mentioned a sit-down restaurant to come. It would be a nice option.

If not, DTD offers so much in the way of dining...we especially like Wolfgang Pucks. A little off topic but, in fact, the last time we were at Wolfgang Pucks, we had a table outside overlooking the lake, and in the distance we saw construction going on and a frame for some building going up. We were wondering what it could be. It was only 2 months later that we learned we had viewed the very beginning of SSR!

Rumor has it that they are going to reopen the Seasons which was a nice restaurant near the golf course. I was sorry to see it close. It was busy when we used to go but it had great food. It will probably reopen as a family style rather than the gormet place that it was.

Remember that the distance from SSR to DD is, in minutes, not much different than the distance from one end of MK to the other. The DD restaurants will probably feel quite close and handy when you're there.

Plus, the boat from SSR to DTD will be a wonderful way to get to dinner.

I have to say a sit down place would be nice. Since our DS's are getting older they can now handle it. Didn't matter much to me when they were younger, but now I'd love the idea.. Can't wait to get there sit down or not.

SSR or Bust!

I was speaking with MS today and my rep was very excited about the food court at SSR. She said it will feature meals to go such as Pizza, Pasta etc. She said a survey revealed that members don't want to cook in the Villa's after being in the parks all day and Artist Palette's (she did not say the name) will address that and also have refrigerated items like the General store and connected to General sales. You will check out all your items from one line.

I was glad to hear that they are addressing member concerns by using surveys although all I could think of is how this reminded me of a Super Walmart. PERISH THE THOUGHT!!

She didnt mention formal dining, but I did not ask either.

I think the food court idea at SSR is a great option. When we stayed at the all star resort the food court was great. And DTD is close for those that want a formal dining option. If you really think about it SSR probably has the best dining options around if you consider DTD as well as the DTD hotels. I can't wait to stay there!!

Seems a little odd to me that there is none! I read that there will also be the Turf Club... it says you can play billiards there! IS it a bar or what? Anyone know?

All of the Downtown Disney sit-down establishments are about the same walking distance from the resort rooms as Artist Palette. I think that DVC (wisely) decided it wasn't worth trying to compete with the wide variety available at DD--instead they are complementing with a different class establishment.

Even still, the description "food court" probably doesn't do the facility justice. The Member Clubhouse newsletter published extensive details on Artist Palette, and suffice it to say that the cuisine will be a significant step up from burgers and fries.

The billiard table will be located in or near the registration building. I think I did read something that had the word "lounge" or "bar", but did not get the impression that it would be a wet bar. To me it sounded more like a place to hang out (similar to the other unique resort lobbies) as opposed to a place to grab a drink.
