Dining at Resorts....kids using their pool?

So, would it be Ok then to go to a Ritz Carlton in Atlanta say, have dinner and let your teen age children swim in their pool while you dine?? I'm REALLY not trying to start anything here, but trying to figure out if rules (or perceived rules) are different at Disney resorts because it's more family oriented, or it's that Orlando is a vacation kind of town (as opposed to Atlanta for example which seems more corporate oriented) or what.....

I am not trying to be rude here but I agree with PlutoPony. Would any of you go have dinner at a very nice restaurant at a very nice resort and take your kids along so they could swim in the resort pool while you enjoyed your dinner? Do you really think the resort management at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, the Sagamore or another resort such as these would think it was okay just because you are having dinner in one of their restaurants to bring your kids so they can grab a coke and crash the pool? I don't think most people would ever think about doing this at another nice resort. What makes it okay to do something like this just because it is at Disney? By the way, neither my DH nor I ever use the pools while we are at Disney so it is not like you are taking a seat away from me or making the pool more crowded for me. I just don't think that trying to pool crash when Disney (or any other place) prohibits the practice is the right thing to do. Of course, I am someone who always trys to follow the rules and it annoys me when others think they are above the rules and the rules are not meant for them.

I think everyone who has posted to this thread shares the same opinion, that its not really the "right" thing to do. I believe where we differ is if we think Disney objects strongly to the practice of using their pools while dining.

This question isn't a joke, because believe me people do it all the time!!

Thanks for your replies, I will let my friend and her husband know what the "Dis" people think of their idea!:D

That was my thinking! Every hotel has their OWN pool. IF you want to let the kids use another pool with your supervision, then why not let them stay at your hotel while you go to dinner?

This has to be joke question. I don't know how anyone would have the gall to let their kids swim at another hotel. How could you put your child in that situation where he may get questioned?

Here's an idea why not have every resort restaurant from 5-6 p.m. be adults only. Then the kids could go anywhere they want.
And each pool have hot dogs and soda for the kids (just in case they too might get hungry). The resorts with the more popular pools will get crowded, and then we can seenot to stay at that resort.

I'll stay at an off-site motel and pool hop each night. Just think how much money I'll save. Maybe if we sleep on the beach in the Poly we can have a free night too!

Peter Pirate I have seen guests carded at the Poly and the BWV's on several trips. I think the issue of carding only comes up if the pool area is nearing capacity. With that said I think Disney's rules on using resort pools are pretty clear regardless if some choose to ignore them.

To the OP....is it right? No. Do people do it? Yes, all the time. But that doesn't make it right. Signs are posted to this effect...Pool is for resort guests only!! As far as the lifeguards not helping your child if there is a problem, that just isn't so. I've seen lifeguards several times, at different resort pools...jump in the water to help a little one or order a misbehaving one out!! I don't think the lifeguards should have to police the pools for poohhoppers. People should be swimming in the pool at the resort they paid for. Very basic concept. Right is right, wrong is wrong. Now, you all can go and do exactly what you feel is right!!! It's your judgement call.

I think the OP's question has been answered. The official policy is that the pools are for resort or DVC guests only. If you want to ask at the front desk when you are there if it is OK then that wouldn't be a problem.
