It seems as though every Magic Kingdom Dining isn't all that fabulous unless it is a buffet that is 60$ which is out of budget. Any suggestions? We're willing to dine at any MK hotel, or maybe downtown disney, or anywhere you think is possible when trying to head back to MK for wishes that night. I was looking to eat at like 6 I suppose. Any help is appreciated!

We love Planet Hollywood it is our fav but unfortunately it is showing unavailable on our date!

Hello,

unfortunately looking for restaurant reservation at this time is going to be pretty bare, especially for what would be considered major dining attractions (Planet Hollywood included).

We had this problem 2 years ago as we didn't realize how far in advance you had to book.

Your options are (as I see it) the following:

1. Go to the resort and check every day if a reservation has opened up. People do cancel.
2. Go through the list of restaurants at WDW (website) one by one and find something different that has an opening. (We did and tried a few places we would have never ventured)
3. Go to sit down meals at lunch and counter service
4. There will be next to zero reservations available for 6pm. Look for a later time like 8-9.

What date are you looking for? How far in advance are you trying to plan?

Planet Hollywood is not a Disney operated restaurant so it may be advisable to contact them directly.

California Grill...... Book shortly before Wishes. Then watch Wishes from the roof of the Contemporary. A nice anniversary experience.

The California Grill is not cheap, but it doesn't have to be that expensive. Depends what you eat. If you want an appetizer+entree+dessert+drink, it will run over $60 per person.
But you can get a sushi roll for under $25... Or a large flatbread, which is plenty to eat for a meal, for under $20.
Honestly... 1 sushi roll, 1 flat bread and 1 dessert would be plenty for 2 people to share at their meal, and it would run about $50-$60 total. It would be far more romantic than Planet Hollywood. the views are outstanding.

Disney Dining scout has been great at helping me secure the ADR's I need close to my date . . .

You're right, MK dining is not fabulous! If nothing there appeals to you, I would look into the MK resort restaurants. There are some great signatures, but if the cost is too high, I would suggest The Wave, Grand Floridian Cafe and Kona. O'hana is also fun, but difficult to get in to. If you would like a signature, our favorite in the MK area is Artist Point at WL. Quiet, romantic, great food and service.

I wouldn't recommend going all the way to DTD if you want to be back in MK for the evening.

Also, keep in mind Liberty Tree Tavern in MK is scheduled to re-open in November as is the new Skippers Cantina, so if those appeal, you could try to make an ADR as soon as the opening is announced. I would keep an eye on these boards for the announcement.

I just did a quick check and all of the monorail resort restaurants ( except Ohana) plus several MK restaurants, including LTT have availability around 6:00. So it shouldn't be that hard to find an ADR. I definitely wouldn't go all the way to DTD if you are going back for Wishes. MK is the least recommended park that day, so I'd expect it to be crowded that night.

We've had no problem finding ADRs for our trip that is Dec 2-6 so I would think you'd be able to find plenty of options.

We really like Raglan Road, Boma, and Whispering Canyon.

The Wave is good but it does not have anything "magical" like a view or theming.

Definitely stick close to MK if you are planning to go back there.

We really liked the food at Kona. It's not a "romantic" restaurant, but the Poly itself certainly is and then you have an excuse to take the monorail. :-)

To the OP, I would hop a monorail and go to one of the nice restaurants at Polynesian or Contemporary. I have personally not gotten to eat at Be Our Guest, but otherwise, no real options for romance or great meals hit me at MK. My personal fave restaurant on property, best meal I have ever had, is Hollywood Brown Derby. We are trying it again with family in Nov. I'm SOOO hoping it delivers a second time around, not just a one time fluke. Expectations!

Kona Cafe is really good and not that bad price-wise. I would go with that - easy to get back to the MK for fireworks.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I think Be Our Guest is pretty spectacular. We've had dinner twice there now and its been wonderful both times. I'm not sure about $60 for two people though... maybe without apps and such. I feel like you get a lot for your money there, and aside from the good food, the atmosphere is amazing, you meet the Beast, AND you're still in MK. We've sat in the gallery and west wing so far and had an intimate experience both times. While the monorail resorts are certainly convenient, it's sort of a pain to go all the way back to the exit to leave, and then possibly come back. Once you're there, you're already there for fireworks, the night parade, etc. This year, we went for my husbands birthday and they acknowledged it with a card signed by the beast and then put a candle on his dessert. It was really great!

It's highly unlikely that the original poster would be able to get into Be Our Guest at this point, though.
